Since the beginning of the 80s, the Minsk truck manufacturing plant has completely updated the entire line of the MAZ lineup. Thus, in the 1990th year, MAZ 5336 appeared. Then they were produced in small batches. Production was established by 1993. Since then, serial production of updated machines has started.

Technical details

Initially, it was an onboard car with a load capacity of 8 tons and a 4x2 wheel arrangement. Such data was also owned by his predecessor, the MAZ 500, popularly nicknamed the "Man-Eater" (for the aggressive form of the cabin). After some time, the plant began to produce isothermal vans for new items. The total mass of the truck was 18 tons. Also, the novelty could be equipped with a trailer of the same brand. The trailer had a similar weight, volume and carrying capacity. The on-board equipment was a metal base with hinged sides at the back and sides. The floor was wooden.

Thus, the road train was able to transport goods weighing up to 16 tons (8 per van and the same per trailer). However, judging by the reviews, thanks to the powerful turbodiesel engine, the truck easily pulled 20 tons of cargo at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour! This was the goal of the engineers when creating the new MAZ 5336. Reviews of the gearbox, in contrast to the engine, were negative: they often broke down, stuck and did not want to work at all. But our drivers found a universal solution to this problem, changing their native box to KAMAZ with dividers. Then it turned out to be an almost perfect car. By the way, the developers took this minus into account and in the next generations used the gearbox from the German MAN.

The cab of the novelty was double with two sleeping bags, which was ideal for many car depots: 2 drivers were placed in the car right away. The driver's seat was sprung. It was regulated in different directions: length, height, as well as the angle of inclination of the back. In the cabin there was a heating system. The suspension was spring, the brake system was equipped with drum mechanisms.

Engines

MAZ 5336 trucks are equipped with YaMZ 238 eight-cylinder turbocharged engines. At that time, turbocharging for domestic cars was extremely rare. Engine capacity - 14.8 liters, power - 300 horsepower. Thanks to the special design of the parts, the novelty is capable of speeds up to 115 km / h. Despite such a large displacement, fuel consumption was relatively low - 25 liters per 100 kilometers. The injection pump (high pressure fuel pump) was also updated .
