The Leningrad Region boasts many lakes and rivers. There is also a real sea, more precisely, the Gulf of Finland. But, despite the abundance of water bodies, Lake Ladoga enjoys special popularity among fishermen . Weather conditions are not very favorable here - rainfall occurs 200 days a year, storms are not uncommon. But the water balance and natural conditions of the lake created a kind of paradise for fish here. This is the secret of the popularity of this place. The uniqueness of the reservoir
What's the secret? Thirty-five rivers flow into Ladoga, replenishing it with oxygen and significantly clarifying the water, which is good for fish. And only one Neva flows from the lake. Connects Ladoga and the Gulf of Finland. Because of this water balance, the water in the lake is clean, transparent and almost non-mineralized. The second feature of Ladoga is the abundance of islands. There are 660 of them. All of them are small, and some are just tiny, but if you summarize their area, you get a pretty solid figure - 430 km². The diversity of landscapes is another “feature” of this natural reservoir. In the south, the bottom is flat, the banks are often swampy, shallow water quickly warms up in the spring. It can be great Russian fishing. Northern Ladoga has high, rocky shores, and the bottom here is with frequent pits and whirlpools. The coastline of the lake is also diverse: meadows, alders, sand dunes, swampy, overgrown with sedge and horsetail troughs.
The species composition of the inhabitants of Ladoga
The lake is home to about fifty species of fish. You should be aware that not all of them are “permanently registered” in this reservoir, some rocks swim here from the Baltic Sea. The best trophy among local fishermen is considered to be salmon, sturgeon and zander. Sometimes caught specimens are simply impressive for their size and weight. Old-timers say that once, twenty years ago, a sterlet was caught from Ladoga. She is no longer found in these waters. But foresters artificially swam the lake with carp. The village of Koshkino and the village of Krenitsy
Now it's time to point out the richest catch places along the shores of Lake Ladoga. The closest to Peter is the village of Koshkino. Only half an hour, forty minutes maximum - and you are there. However, you have to share the shore with other fishermen. Therefore, the game is careful here. Beginners will only be able to catch roach and inexperienced perch. And experienced catchers can count on pike, burbot, river and brook lamprey, grayling and whitefish. Getting to the village of Koshkino is simple: along the Murmansk highway to the road sign to the village named after Morozov, then to the mouth of the Chernaya river (Hannibalovka). Excellent fishing on Lake Ladoga at the mouth of the Volkhovets River, near the village of Krenitsy. In summer, pike, white fish and perch are caught on a spinning rod, trolls of large pike perch are trolling. In winter, using baubles and lanterns, burbot, roach and Ladoga perch are mined.

Fishing on Lake Ladoga in the winter is fruitful for lure and mormyshka. Good places begin on a dump of depths, 3-4 kilometers from the coast. But in Lednevo, you should not neglect security measures, since open water is nearby in the Black Satam Bay. In shallow waters covered with reeds, you can catch a pike without danger for your own life. But perch and roach in the winter months prefer places deeper. They are caught using a vertical spinner with hooks worn on a chain.
Salmon and Trout Hunt
Fishing on Lake Ladoga can be rewarded by the capture of noble representatives of the fauna of this reservoir. Commercial salmon fishing has been officially banned for a long time - the population is growing too slowly. But to catch an instance weighing 2-3 kilograms is quite realistic. Lake salmon and trout prefer the northern coast of the lake. But not so simple. In February, a massive migration of fish begins. To the east coast is salmon, as well as pike perch and smelt. Trout stubbornly adheres to the south side. In summer, whitefish and salmon are caught in the west, as well as in the Svir and Volkhov lips.
