Decoupage is not only an opportunity to update old furniture. This is a whole science that can turn a house into a work of art handmade. Any room will be transformed if you put a beautiful table in it. Having completed the decoupage of a desk for a child, you can transform his room. Take an old, shabby, boring table and turn it into a masterpiece. To do this, you need necessarily varnished furniture, coarse-grained
sandpaper or a grinding machine, scissors, a set of brushes of different widths, napkins, a washcloth and some kind of cleaning agent. As for the pictures, there is a wide selection. This can be images cut from prints, photographs, pictures printed on a printer and other liked elements from paper. To make beautiful tables, decoupage is pre-assembled from different elements on the surface in the location in which they plan to glue.
Before applying decoupage to the tables, the surface to be decorated must be prepared. If this is a table made of laminated particleboard, then it is simply wiped and degreased. For this, alcohol is suitable, since its residues quickly evaporate. If there are cracks or other defects on the
surface of the table , then it is necessary to fill them with a spatula and sand them with sandpaper. The entire wooden surface must be well sanded, dust removed and primed. If you need to change the background on which decoupage will be applied, it is best to choose acrylic paint for this purpose. If the tables are painted in a favorable color, decoupage on them will look very impressive. After the soil and paint have dried, we do the “fitting”, laying out the cut out patterns and photos on the table in the optimal location.
Cut the cut photos and pictures into a container of water, and then lay them down on a file or oilcloth. Now, very carefully remove the layers of paper on which the picture is printed, and leave only the layer with the picture itself. In order not to deal with the removal of layers, you can use drawings from magazines or other print media. There the paper is much thinner and it does not need to be pre-moistened, and then remove the excess, you can immediately proceed to the sticker.
Lubricate the surface with PVA glue. We turn the file or oilcloth and put it so that the picture lies in the right place on the table surface. Carefully smooth the picture (without removing the oilcloth) to remove air between the picture and the table surface. After all the details of the alleged pattern were placed on the table in the above way, you need to let the glue dry well. Then, several layers of varnish should be applied to the entire surface of the table.
