The life of Ali Musaevich Taziev (nickname Magas) resembles an adventure novel. First, as a sergeant of private security, he regularly served in the Nazran Internal Affairs Directorate. However, in 1999 he was captured by militants and immediately adapted to the situation. Taziev joined the members of the group and for five years from an ordinary gangster turned into a detachment commander of thirty people. On the account of the militants there were many terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of dozens of people.
Biography
Ali Musayevich Taziev was born on 08/19/1974 in the village of Nasyr-Kort, Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. He is a Chechen by origin. In 1998, he was part of a group that guarded Olga Uspenskaya, the wife of Valery Fateev, an adviser to the president of Ingushetia. On October 10, a woman and two police officers accompanying her disappeared. As it turned out, they were captured by militants.
Olga Uspenskaya was released only after a year and a half. As for the police, one of them was killed, and the second, Ali Taziev, joined the terrorist gang. He acquired two fake passports in the names of Akhmed Yevloyev and Magomed Yevloyev. For radio calls took the callsign "Magas".
Ali Musaevich Taziev was first in the group of Abu al-Valid, and then formed his own detachment of thirty people, which included residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Chechnya and Kalmykia. According to security officials, Magas, along with Magomed Khashiyev and Abu Dzeyt, created the Jamaat-Caliphate organization in Ingushetia.
In 2004, the name of Akhmed Yevloyev sounded for the first time in the reports of the Ministry of the Interior. Before the attack on Ingushetia in June 2004, he was appointed head of the Ingush sector of the armed forces of Ichkeria. In 2006, by decree of Doku Umarov, he began to command the Caucasus Front of the CRI Armed Forces, and in July 2007 he was appointed military emir of CRI.
During the FSB operation in the suburb of Malgobek on 09.06.2010, the capture of Ali Taziev took place. Magas, before his arrest, was considered the elusive and immortal field commander. He was declared dead four times, but each time he “rose”. The reason for this is two passports that prevented clarification of the identity of the gang leader. For special services, it remained a mystery for a long time who Magas really was, but during the June attack on Nazran, several eyewitnesses identified former police officer Ali Taziev in the commander of the militants.
In connection with the detention of Magas, President of CRI Doku Umarov turned to the Ingush Mujahideen and urged them to pray for Taziev, not to lose heart and continue jihad. According to investigators, the remnants of Magas’s detachments are based on the border of Ingushetia and Chechnya.
Acts of 2003-2004
Ali Taziev participated in a number of terrorist attacks and hundreds of attacks on police and military personnel in the North Caucasus. Magas’s detachment began operations in 2003, and over the past seven years, hundreds of military personnel, police and civilians have died at the hands of a gang. Dozens of families in Ingushetia and Chechnya declared Taziev bloodsucker.
05/29/2003 the armed formation of Magas blew up the convoy of federal forces in Chechnya, in the Nozhai-Yurt district. Then three soldiers were killed. On July 6 of that year, Ali Taziev and his group attacked the village of Gordali and shot the local head of the administration.
On June 22, 2004, an attack by Ingushetia by militants took place. Magas was among the organizers of the attack and directly commanded the assault groups of bandits. At the head of thirty militants in the form of riot police, he stood at the crossroads in Nazran and shot government officials. There is evidence that Taziev personally shot the acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia and two prosecutors. At that time, the first criminal case was brought against Magas.
In September 2004, a terrorist attack in Beslan was committed. Taziev participated in its preparation and throughout the time of his capture at the school was in touch with terrorists. On September 17, he was put on the federal wanted list.
Further gang activity
In May 2006, Magas organized the bombing of the car of Dzhabrail Kostoev, head of the Nazran police. As a result of this, Kostoev and six other people, including random passers-by, were killed. On June 9 of the same year, the Taziev gang shot the Ingush riot police commander, his three young children and two security guards.
07/08/2008 Magas detachment consisting of thirty people attacked the settlements of Surkhakhi and Muzhichi, as a result of which a seventy-year-old civilian and two former police officers were killed. In October of that year, a gang under the command of Taziev in the Ingush forest, between the villages of Muzhichi and Galashki, attacked a military convoy of Leningrad assault paratroopers. Three soldiers were killed and about fifteen injured. Also, the militants knocked out two trucks and an armored personnel carrier.
Capture
The operation to detain Magas began half a year before his capture. He fell under sniper sights three times, but was ordered to take him alive. In 2009, it turned out that Ali Taziev had lived in a suburb of Malgobek since 2007 in a private house under the name Gorbakov. He behaved inconspicuously and quietly, seemed to the neighbors a migrant from Chechnya.
06/09/2010 FSB special forces surrounded the building and detained Magas, who could not resist. On the same day he was transported by plane to Moscow and taken into custody.
Trial
In October 2011, the investigation against Taziev was completed. After reviewing all the materials of the case, he stated that he was not involved in the alleged acts and was never the leader of the gangs. In the pre-trial detention center, Magas prayed five times a day and told his cellmates that he had been tortured in North Ossetia.
In December 2012, the criminal case was submitted to court. The first hearing was held in May 2013 in the North Caucasus District Military Court. On it, Taziev admitted to illegal possession of weapons, the organization of bandit formation and participation in it. 10/15/2013 SKOVS on the aggregate of crimes sentenced Magas to life imprisonment with serving a sentence in the Black Dolphin special regime IR. Ali Taziev appealed the decision to the Supreme Court, but the appeal was dismissed.
Personal life
Nothing is known about the gang leader’s family. At the hearing, Magas stated that he has six children from two different women, the youngest daughter is three years old. But the court considered that Taziev hoped to present a mitigating circumstance with such a statement.
Currently
Now Magas is in the "Black Dolphin" - a special regime colony in Sol-Iletsk. The most dangerous criminals who have received life sentences serve their sentences here. The colony has strict rules. Prisoners move outside the cells with a blindfold, walk in a closed box, live under strict control.
Many convicts would rather die than spend the rest of their lives in prison, especially this one, and be powerless and humiliated. Ali Taziev received a fair sentence. Retribution has come true.
