And this is not surprising, because a backpack, especially one belonging to the tactical class, is just as important for saving a soldier’s life and performing a combat mission, like an assault rifle.
The strange word "tactical"
Not only the professional military, but also the paintball and airsoft hangout periodically use the unusual word "tactical". Any layman understands that it comes from the word "tactics". But not every warrior will immediately explain what a tactical army backpack is and how it differs from all the others.
So, a tactical satchel, like a tactical flashlight, tactical gloves and other tactical attributes, was created for a specific purpose. Its presence is due to the task assigned to the fighter. The volume of the backpack, the number and shape of pockets and internal compartments, the shape of the lines and much more depend on this very task.

In order for the fighter not to get tired in long pedestrian crossings or march-throws, the weight of the equipment carried on himself must be evenly distributed. The main assistant in this is a discharge vest. Following him are all kinds of pouches that can be attached to the belt and thigh or fastened to unloading, body armor. You can place a lot of useful little things in them, from personal shaving accessories to VOGs.
The fighter’s backpack is designed to perform the same tasks: to contain the maximum of things necessary in the battle, while not overloading the back and shoulders. Wide slings do not rub or crash into the body, and additional belts distribute the weight evenly.
Form and content
It is unlikely that you will find a skewer mount system in a good army backpack. But a compartment for a flask, a carabiner for attaching a sapper blade, a waterproof case for documents and cards and a sealed pocket for medications, as a rule, are present there. Some models are designed to store ammunition in them. However, in this case we are only talking about large-sized backpacks designed for long-term operations, because the number of replaceable stores needed by a soldier should be placed in his unloading vest. A convenient option for many backpacks is special slings for attaching a karemat located at the bottom or side. Depending on the model, an army backpack can be equipped with a special pocket or clip for attaching a helmet or helmet.

An important role is played by the color of the fabric. In the vast majority of cases, army backpacks are made of camouflage fabrics. Depending on the environmental conditions in which the operation will take place, the fighter’s equipment is also selected. This applies to uniforms, unloading vest, helmet cover and backpack. Where the landscape is covered with forest or undergrowth, camouflage of natural gray-green shades is used. In the desert and steppe, beige-brown gamma is preferred. For rocky terrain, gray tones are used. And for a snowy winter, there is a special fabric of white color, covered with black camouflage spots.
Not every military unit can boast of supplies that can provide each soldier with several sets of equipment. Therefore, army backpacks, as a rule, are sewn from discreet fabrics of neutral color, and camouflage covers are put on top of them. This is especially true for scouts, snipers and all those whose stay in the territory should remain secret.
Army backpacks are made of dense fabric, which in most cases has a water and dirt-repellent impregnation. When choosing a backpack, you should focus on the real number of things that are really necessary when performing a combat mission. Excess weight, which will have to be lugged, can have an extremely negative effect. An optimally matched tactical army backpack is just as important part of preparing for an operation as choosing a fighter’s weapon.
