Many just love summer time. Heat, vacation, outings - what else is needed? However, a good mood can spoil a midge bite in the eye. Treatment in this case is necessary, but not everyone knows how to carry it out. To find out, read the article.
Treatment for a midge bite in the eye: symptoms
It’s impossible to feel that a midge bites you. This fact can be stated only when the first symptoms begin to manifest.
At first, the bite looks like a small dot of dark red color. Then the eyelids will begin to swell. As a rule, the skin becomes reddish. A person who has been bitten by a midge feels a rather strong throbbing under the skin, usually accompanied by pain. Squirrels are blushing.
Very often, due to severe swelling of the eyelids, it is impossible to open the eye.
Treatment for a midge bite in the eye: pharmaceuticals
The simplest thing you can do is go to the pharmacy for a special ointment. A good remedy is ointment "Hydrocortisone" (0.5%). It will perfectly cope with edema, relieve inflammation and prevent the appearance of an allergy to midge poison.
You can also use a special balm, manufactured in Vietnam, which is called the "Golden Star".
The drug "Sulfacil" in the form of eye drops will also help to cope with unpleasant and painful symptoms. You may feel that the eye is “baking,” as it were, but this is normal. The drug "Sulfacil" relieves swelling and eliminates pain.
Not everyone, however, trusts pharmaceutical drugs, so they are looking for alternative methods of treatment.
Treatment of a midge bite in the eye: alternative methods
First you need to rinse the sore spot with water. It should be at room temperature. Movements should be done carefully, in no case should you rub your eye. This can provoke the spread of poison and cause even more swelling.
If you have swollen eyes from a midge bite, be sure to attach ice. One minute will be enough, but it is better to repeat this procedure 5 times a day.
Another great folk remedy is potatoes. You can simply apply it with a slice to a bitten place, or you can grate it and put it on the eyelid. Keep about half an hour. If you make such compresses throughout the day (5-6 times), swelling can pass in 24 hours.
Young leaves of bird cherry help relieve swelling. They must be drained and applied to the bite for 25 or 30 minutes.
Compresses with soda are also an excellent tool. In 100 g of water, stir one spoon (without top, teaspoon) of soda. In the resulting solution, moisten a cotton pad and, without squeezing, attach to a swollen place. Keep this kind of compress should be about 15 minutes, and do it all day long - once every 2 hours.
Summing up, it is important to note that treatment of a midge bite in the eye should be carried out immediately after the symptoms have begun to appear, otherwise the healing process may be delayed. In addition, if your condition has not improved after three days, be sure to consult a doctor. However, even if the treatment was successful, and nothing else bothers you, the specialist is still worth a visit, since the remnants of the poison can lead to serious consequences.
