History of creation
The Puppet Theater (Dzerzhinsk) has a very interesting history. In 1948, a drama theater was opened in the city . In 1980, the theater moved to a new building, and the old building was empty. And in 1981, it was decided to convert it for a puppet theater. The building was rebuilt in 1984. In 1988, the director and chief director of the still under construction theater were appointed, and his troupe was also formed. And already in January 1989, the first staging of the Dzerzhinsky Puppet Theater - the play "Little Fairy" was adopted by the artistic council. And the premiere of the performance took place in the spring of that year at the Palace of Culture of the glassworks. For the first time, the artists performed in the still unfinished theater building, on the stage of a small rehearsal room, with the performance “I Love Daisies”. On December 28, 1990, its grand opening took place. Director Boris Zhukovsky and chief director Vladimir Kazachenko received from the hands of builders a symbolic key to the Dzerzhinsky Puppet Theater. Repertoire
The Puppet Theater (Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region) is constantly updating its repertoire, which includes performances for different age categories:

The troupe gathered artists dedicated to their work, enthusiastically working on each new performance. Here are some of them working in the theater for many years:
- Irina Abakhova - Honored Artist of Russia, a leading actress of the puppet theater. She has been on stage since 1988. In her creative piggy bank, a unique collection of images is a squirrel, a magpie, a cowboy-hare, and many others. The actress is loved by the townspeople and is happy to come to performances with her participation.
- Olga Zemskova has been working in the theater since 1993. Kind and responsive, she very subtly conveys the character of positive characters. Expressive and cute characters are very popular with both children and their parents. At the same time, she convincingly creates negative images. She has a rich voice palette, which allows her to make any image unique.
- Sergey Zitser came to the puppet theater in 1996. Prior to that, he worked in a drama theater. This is a creative gifted person. It was in the puppet theater that he very vividly showed himself as an actor and director, realized his musical and poetic abilities. Sergey easily and naturally communicates with children’s audience. Several characters Sergey played a living plan. He is the director of more than ten productions.

Festival "Theater Talents"
In the spring of 2016, at the initiative of the theater, the city "Competition and Festival" Theater Talents "was held in Dzerzhinsk, in which collectives of preschool institutions took part. And the finalists of the competition were hosted by the Puppet Theater (Dzerzhinsk) on their stage. The competition was held in two stages:
- Stage 1 is a qualifying round where videos of performances of participants were viewed. According to the competition committee, all the works are very interesting and each of them is worthy of an award. Nevertheless, the jury had to choose the best. As a result, the works of five creative groups that were invited to participate in the finals were selected.
- In the final, the participants showed dramas based on well-known fairy tales. The winners were determined in three categories - musical performance, puppet and drama. The Grand Prix of the festival was given to the pupils of the Teremok kindergarten, who also became winners in the nomination Dramatic Performance for the production of The Snow Queen.
