Graz Airport

The construction of the oldest airport in Austria began in 1913, and the first flight took place a year later. The first passenger flight served the route Vienna-Graz-Klagenfurt. In connection with the increase in passenger flow in 1937, the construction of a large terminal began. After World War II, Austria was forbidden to have both a military and a civilian fleet. And only in the 50s, after the resumption of airspace, the airport began to expand, the grass runway was replaced with concrete and its length was significantly increased.

The number of routes grew rapidly, the first international flight was in 1966 to Frankfurt.

In the 2000s, the number of passengers exceeded the mark of more than 900,000 people per year, which led to the expansion of the existing terminal and the construction of a new one. In the summer of 2015, the airport received two new routes to Zurich and to Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

The building of the passenger terminal has shops, restaurants and cafes, a travel agency, car rental offices.
