The main reason you might need to create a disk image is to reinstall the operating system. The network runs a lot of assemblies, as well as images of official distributions, from which you can install any OS. Naturally, first you need to write this image to disk or other media from which installation is possible.
In addition, many large programs that have a paid license, as well as a large size, are usually not placed in .exe format. They have the extension .iso. But what if you yourself need to create an image of, say, a game that cannot work without the original disc, or, for example, you just need to copy the disc to a regular disc? Unfortunately, using Windows tools is quite difficult. But, fortunately, there are several programs with which creating an iso-image of a disk will not become a problem.
Option 1 : UltraISO. This is the simplest option that even a novice PC user can handle. Creating a disk image with it becomes simple and fast. First you need to download the program itself. There are some pitfalls here. The fact is that she herself has a paid license, but a trial version is provided for her, which does not require registration for a month. So, download, then install. During installation, you should pay attention to the list of extensions that will be associated with our archiver. Namely, on the contrary .iso should be ticked, if not, then you need to put it and continue the installation. After the end, a reboot is required to enter it into the registry. Then, after starting the computer, you need to insert the disk into the drive, and then call the context menu of our drive with the right mouse button. Then in the list we look for "create an iso-image." Now you just need to click next and wait until the copy to the archive occurs. A small nuance is to note the save path - it’s best to go to a folder, which then can be easily found.

Option 2: Nero, but not earlier than version 6. First of all, you need the program itself with a full set of applications. Then we need Nero Burning ROM. Here we select DVD Copy. After that, select the Image Recorder receiver. Then copy, unchecking "delete file after copying." The downside is the .nrg extension. But many programs "understand" this image. For example, there are no problems with Daemon Tools.
Option 3: Alcohol. Creating a disk image with this program will also not cause difficulties. In its simplicity, it can even compete with the first option. To carry out such an operation, it is enough to insert the disk into the drive, then run the program and select “Image creation”. Then you need to clarify the extension of the .iso image. It is possible to create other extensions, but it is better to choose a standard ISO image. In addition, you need to specify the save path. Then press start and wait. After completion, there will be no pop-ups.

Creating a disk image, in principle, can be done using Windows. This is a pleasure for more advanced users, however, and they, for the most part, prefer one of the proposed options. Naturally, this is not all the possibilities, in addition to the proposed methods, there are many others. Some of them may seem simpler, some may be more difficult, but they all serve the same purpose, so you should choose which one is suitable for a particular situation.
