Airport TGD. Montenegro International Airport

All international airports are assigned a unique letter identifier, which helps to transmit navigation information. Montenegro's civilian airport - Podgorica, located 11 km from the capital of the same name, received the abbreviated name TGD airport from the international civil aviation organization. This is due to the fact that earlier the city of Podgorica was called Titograd.

In 2007, TGD Podgorica Airport received the Best Airport Award for serving up to 1 million passengers a year.

Construction of a new terminal

Due to the increase in passenger traffic to the TGD airport, he ceased to cope with his functions. The authorities of Montenegro decided to open a new modern terminal - it began to work in mid-May 2016 and is ready to serve up to a million passengers a year. The runway lighting system was improved and taxiways were refitted.

Although the airport is considered round-the-clock, its usual mode of operation is from 6:00 to 23:00.

Which airlines fly to TGD airport

Due to the fact that for Montenegro, tourism is one of the main components of the economy, there are a lot of travelers here. Charter planes arrive from all over the world at the Montenegrin international TGD airport. The country, which has an unusually beautiful and unspoiled nature, is very attractive for tourists. Another positive point is that Russians do not need a Schengen visa to visit the country.

Airport code TGD does not interfere with the use of another name for this place - "Heart of Montenegro." This name was given to him by local residents, and it is justified. Flights are carried out both by domestic airlines and international. The airport is the base for the national airline Montenegro Airlines. But long-distance departures and arrivals occur mainly at the neighboring Tivat airport.

The busiest period here is from April to October.
