The life of a modern person is sometimes extremely complicated, and therefore he cannot manage to hide from the flows of digital information that accompanies him everywhere. There are many positive aspects to this approach, but the human eye perceives “pure” numbers quite poorly. That is why, the creators of the wonderful spreadsheet editor Excel have introduced the ability to create graphs and charts of professional quality in their product.
We have not just mentioned this product for a reason, because to this day this application is the best in its class. Therefore, we will learn
how to build a diagram in Exel. By the way, there’s nothing complicated about this, and therefore, if you follow the instructions from our article as clearly as possible, even beginners can do this.
First, open the application. Then you need to create a table, according to the numerical data of which we will build our chart. Of course, for this purpose you can open a ready-made spreadsheet file. Then you should select those cells that contain the data necessary for building. We go to the tab with the name “Insert”, look for the item with the name “Charts” there, choosing the necessary one among the proposed options. Since building a chart is our goal, we select the appropriate item.
A “wizard” window will immediately appear, making it easier for beginners to do this job. In particular, it is quite realistic to create even a complex schedule by going through a few simple steps.
Its use is also good because you don’t even have to think about how to build a chart in Excel: the program itself will automatically select and configure all the parameters. However, we were a little distracted.
After familiarizing yourself with the window of our assistant, you should determine the type of your project. Since their choice is huge, it is most reasonable to be guided only by their needs and preferences. Fortunately, even for the most non-trivial tasks, the creators of Excel have provided for non-standard projects. In the second step, you will be asked to enter numerical data. Note that it is unrealistic to build a chart without a normal understanding of the principle of creating tables, so it will not hurt to check the numbers again. By the way, it is at this stage that each column of your chart can get a name.
Lastly, the support program will ask you to select the folder in which you want to save the results of your hard work. Since most users want to build a chart on the same sheet as the original table, you can select the default save options. If you checked everything and were satisfied with the result, you can click on the "Finish" button.
After that, your project will immediately appear before you in all its glory. Keep in mind that the formatting tools in Excel are still far from complete perfection, so that some "traveled" values will still have to be corrected. If you right-click on the workspace, you can easily change the background, as well as slightly adjust the type of font you used.
In a word, without even knowing how to build a Gantt chart, using Excel you can handle this without any problems.
