In some cases, when working with the Word document, it becomes necessary to create notes. Notes can be inserted for yourself as a reminder for the subsequent conduct of any action, or for someone else who will subsequently work with this document. Creating notes is very simple, let’s look at how to insert a marginal note in the 2010 Word border.
Create Note
In order to create a note for various parts of the text, you need to select the necessary passage, whether it be a word, line, paragraph or the whole document, and in the “Review” tab select “Create notes”.
The fragment will be automatically selected, and a footnote with a note will appear in the margins. In the note, you can specify any text that is needed.
In addition, you can insert as many notes as you like into the same text fragment. In this case, the title of the note will contain its number according to the sequence and the number of notes to this text fragment.
Display notes
Sometimes notes may not appear in the document, despite the fact that they are present in the text. In this case, go to the “Review” tab and select “Show corrections” in the “Record corrections” menu, put a checkmark next to the “Notes” line in the pop-up window. After these actions, all notes that are in the document will be reflected.
Name change for notes
We figured out how to insert a note in Word, but what to do if several people work with a document, and you need to distinguish who wrote this or that note. To do this, in the “Review” tab there is a special item “Corrections”. In it we can find the line “Change user”.
When you click on it, the window for working with Word will appear. Here in the column "Username" you must enter the appropriate name, and just below - the initials.
After these changes, all subsequent notes will have the indicated initials and note number in their name.
Print document with note
If the notes in the Word are visible, then they should be printed. But what if, for some reason, the notes are not printed? How to insert notes in the Word so that they are visible in the printed document? To do this, you need to go to the “Review” tab and click on the arrow under the “Corrections” button, and then select “Corrections Settings” in the pop-up window.
Next, at the bottom of the window that appears, in the “Callouts” tab, select “Only for notes / formatted”, as shown below.
After you click OK and print the document, the notes should also be printed.
Delete note
Just as inserting a note in the Word, deleting it is not difficult. To do this, select the note that should be deleted by clicking on it with the left mouse button, and then all in the same “Review” tab, select the “Delete” item.
If we click directly on the button, the note will be automatically deleted. If we click on the arrow below the button, a pop-up menu will appear where you can choose whether to delete a specific note, all displayed notes or all notes in the document.
