The Moscow Academic Theater of Satire opened in 1924. His repertoire includes comedies, as the name implies. For the past 16 years, the post of artistic director of the theater has been occupied by Alexander Anatolyevich Shirvindt.
Theater History
The Moscow Academic Theater of Satire, whose building photo is presented in this article, opened its doors, as mentioned above, in 1924. Its first room was the basement of a house in Bolshoi Lane Gnezdnikovsky, where the “Cabaret” cabaret had lived before.
The very first director of the theater was David Gutman. The troupe was immediately accepted by the audience. The repertoire included plays, parodies and satirical reviews, which are called to the anger of the day. In other theaters this could not be seen. Reviews consisted of interludes, dances, couplets.
GBUK of Moscow (Moscow Academic Theater of Satire) soon received a new building, which was located on Sadovo-Triumfalnaya Street. Comedy and vaudeville, plays in which irony was predominant, were added to the repertoire.
Valentin Nikolaevich Pluchek in 1950 came to the theater of satire. When he began a new era. The repertoire became wider, his productions excited the capital, they were one of the most noticeable, successful and vibrant. Despite the fact that the theater’s performances were admired by the public, many of them were banned from showing and removed from the repertoire. The production of V. Pluchek and the young M. Zakharov, who began his directorial career in the theater of satire, fell under the ban.
V. Pluchek is also famous for having assembled a magnificent troupe, thanks to him people came here: Olga Aroseva, Tatyana Peltzer, Andrey Mironov, Z. Vysokovsky, Raisa Etush, Anatoly Papanov, Vera Vasilyeva, Alexander Shirvindt, George Menglet, Mikhail Derzhavin, Zoya Zelinskaya, Nina Kornienko and many others.
Moscow Academic Theater of Satire in 1964 moved to a building on Mayakovskaya Square, where the circus was previously located. And then in the 70s. moved to a room on Triumfalnaya Square.
The year 1987 was tragic for the theater. Two legendary artists passed away: Andrei Mironov and Anatoly Papanov. In this regard, thirteen productions in which they played leading roles were removed from the repertoire of the theater. But this did not in any way affect the love of the public. In the difficult years of perestroika, the theater reduced the cost of tickets to enable people to continue to attend performances during the crisis period for the country.
Alexander Anatolyevich Shirvindt (artistic director of the theater) seeks to preserve the traditions laid down by V. Pluchek.
