If you decide to install the latest edition of Microsoft Office, then, as you might guess, you will first have to uninstall the old version of this program. It would seem that the procedure is quite trivial, but sometimes there are problems with it. So, due to damage to the installation file, it becomes impossible to remove "Office" in the usual way. Nevertheless, this problem can be solved, and how to do this will be discussed later.
Standard way
For starters, you should always try to uninstall the program using the standard method. It consists in the following:
- Press the key combination Win + R.
- In the window that appears, write the Control command. Press the Enter key.
- The "Control Panel" will open. In it you need to select the "Programs and Features" section.
- A list of all applications installed on your computer will open. Find Microsoft Office in it and click "Delete."
After that, you just have to confirm the uninstallation procedure and wait a little for its completion. In the event that everything is done correctly, the "Office" will be deleted from your computer.
Fix it
Using the method in the previous section, you may encounter unforeseen errors that will make the process of uninstalling the application impossible. Fortunately, Microsoft employees provided such an option for the development of events and released a special utility Fix It, which allows you to remove the "Office". To use this program, you need:
- Go to the official Microsoft website.
- Use the search by entering the name of the utility (Fix It) in it.
- A page with all existing versions of the program will open. You should download the one that is suitable specifically for your edition of the operating system and Office.
- Now just run the program, click the “Fix it” button and follow the prompts that appear on the screen. The utility will automatically perform all necessary actions, and then ask you to restart the PC. After that, the "Office" will be deleted.
Third Party Utilities
Unfortunately, even the official program from Microsoft will not always help you with uninstalling Office. In this case, you should try to use one of the third-party applications with similar capabilities. So, for example, Revo Uninstaller is perfect for these purposes. This program is distributed free of charge, so that by downloading it, you risk nothing.
So, before uninstalling “Office”, you need to install and run Revo Uninstaller, and then do the following:
- Go to the main menu of the utility. You will see a list of programs that are on your PC. Find Office and select it with the mouse.
- Now pay attention to the top panel of the Revo Uninstaller, where you need to click the “Uninstall” button.
Next, you only need to give your permission for the operation, after which the "Office" will completely disappear from the computer.
