As you know, work in Word mainly involves the use of office text documents, contracts, official forms and forms, in which sometimes you need to leave an empty underlined place for signature. In general, the userβs needs may not be limited to this alone. The scope of such underscores is much wider. But now it will be about exactly how to make a line in Word for signature. In the editor itself, you can use several simple tools that every user knows about.
How to make a line in Word for signature? Simplest method
Each of those who at least once came across a Word text editor knows that a normal line can be created using keyboard characters.
To do this, you just need to hold down the Shift key, and then the hyphen key ("-"). In this embodiment, the line may have an arbitrary length. The main thing is not to get carried away, otherwise when you switch to a new line, it will automatically be converted to bold and the whole width of the sheet.
Using tabs
Another simple way to solve the problem of how to draw a line in Word for signature is to use the so-called tabulator, in other words, the Tab key.
To create a continuous line, you must first set the underline by clicking on the corresponding button on the main panel (it is marked with the underlined letter "H" in the Russian version of the editor), or use the combination Ctrl + U, which is the same. Now it's up to the small. You just need to hold the Shift key and click on the tab several times and create a line of the required length. It is worth noting that such a line has a fixed length (it depends on what setting for the tab is set in the parameters).
How to draw a line under the text in the Word using a table?
The above methods, although they allow you to create the necessary components in the form of lines, however, to enter text above them is impossible.
To create an empty underlined space, you can use tables that are divided into several cells. For example, in the case of three cells, text can be entered on the right and left, and in the center there will be an empty space for the signature or for entering additional text.
To make it look like a line, all the borders of the table need to be removed, leaving only the lower border on the desired cell. Here it is worth paying attention to the fact that when you insert a table in the middle of the text (when it is both above and below), the vertical indent will be automatically increased between the cells, which can lead to poor readability or the appearance of the document. Therefore, it is recommended to make such inserts at the end or use empty lines with pressing the enter key (as shared paragraphs).
Graphic tools
Finally, the problem of how to draw a line in Word for signature can be solved using the drawing tools that are available in any version of the editor. To do this, the corresponding section is used, in which the tool for drawing a straight line is selected.
In the text, it is enough to set the cursor to the starting point, then move it with the left mouse button pressed to the end position and release the button. You can change the line length by highlighting the desired element with the appearance of a four-arrow icon and setting the pointer to one of the points until a double arrow appears. After that, the change is made by stretching or compressing.
Instead of a total
In principle, as you can already see, creating a continuous line for signature is not so difficult. Some, however, try to use the usual β-β symbol without holding the Shift key, which leads only to the fact that the line is dashed, is located in the vertical positioning exactly in the middle and just spoils the look of the document. Therefore, it is better to use the above methods. If you donβt need to enter text on empty space, a keyboard symbol or tabulator for lines of the same length is perfect, but if you need to enter additional characters or letters, you canβt do without a table.
