Rostov-on-Don Airport was built in 1925. Its construction was due to quite objective reasons, since the south of Russia has always been a busy trading place. A huge amount of goods is brought to the βport of five seasβ (the so-called Rostov-on-Don) every year, and merchants from all over the country come to the fairs that are regularly held here.
Description
Rostov-on-Don Airport (ROV) is the most important aviation hub in the Southern Federal District, which is the point of arrival and departure for airliners of both domestic and international traffic. Among the partner airlines of the Rostov airport are such giants as Ural Airlines, OJSC Donavia, Siberia Airlines, Orenburg Airlines and so on. The European carriers, which represent the largest companies: Star Alliance, Oneworld, SkyTeam, also cooperate with the administration (ROV).
Rostov-on-Don Airport is located at ul. Sholokhov, d.270 / 1. Currently, it is among the ten best objects of transport infrastructure in our country.
Routes
Of course, Rostov-on-Don Airport is a starting point for trips to the most remote geographical points both within Russia and beyond. Today, passengers can easily get from the south to Surgut, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and other regions. And, of course, one of the most popular is considered the route to the Russian capital.

Many people prefer to fly abroad from the Rostov airport terminal. Today flights are open to Vienna, Barcelona, ββPrague, Istanbul and other cities.
Reconstruction Stages
Before the end of World War II, the terminal was reconstructed for a long time, since there is no stone left from it, as they say.
Only in 1977, experienced architects gave the Rostov terminal a look that turned it into one of the main attractions of the city.
However, time does not stand still, and the existing architectural appearance of the airport is somewhat outdated - it does not correspond to the spirit of the modern era. Given this, the administration of the Rostov airport decided to modernize the transport infrastructure. The territory of the departure lounge for foreign destinations was increased, and in 2007 the reconstruction of the arrival hall of international traffic was completed. It was also replaced with modern equipment for check-in for flights, baggage inspection, document verification, and the waiting room was equipped with TVs, a bar and buffets.
As a result of the above transformations, Rostov-on-Don Airport has become a modern competitive transportation platform, which now serves about 800 passengers per hour.
On the territory of the object with an area of ββmore than 17,000 square meters there are offices of representative offices of air carriers, ticket offices, halls for delegations and official meetings, kiosks with souvenir and printed materials, ATMs and currency exchange points. Nearby is a hotel for the resettlement of guests of the city, which provides a room for mother and child.
How to get there?
The airport building has a very convenient location. From the city center to the aforementioned object of transport infrastructure, a trolleybus No. 9 runs, a minibus No. 7a, 85.95.
Scheduled work
Most recently, the Russian media began to write that between September 8 and September 23 of this year, the Rostov-on-Don airport will be closed. Indeed it is. The administration decided to reconstruct the runway.
The cost of repairs is about 800 million rubles. Only from September 24, the airport will partially resume flights that will be carried out at night.
Passengers should remember that while the Rostov-on-Don airport is closed, ticket sales will be suspended. Previously planned flights (for which tickets have already been purchased) will be made from other cities. It is possible that it will be Sochi, Mineralnye Vody and Krasnodar. Only from October 24, 2014 the Rostov airport will operate normally.
