Not everyone understands what a config is, but many gamers set up special parameters for themselves on the tip of professional players. Remember that there are no problems with launching new parameters, it is important that the files are stored in a special folder. If we are talking about Counter Strike 1.6, then this is the cstrike folder . But the configs for CS: GO are stored in the cfg folder.
If you need to run the parameters that are in another folder, then you will have to specify the full path to the console, but before that you must specify exec.
Autostart
As already mentioned, you can activate the config once and for all. This is convenient if you have found for yourself the only parameters that are needed at each start. Then rename the config.cfg folder to autoexec.cfg, and just transfer it to the folder where the config should be.
You can also specify the command console -exec nameconfig.cfg in the launch parameters for the game. In this line, nameconfig must describe the file name.
Editing
The main advantage of configs is that they are easy to edit. So you can download the parameters of your favorite eSportsman, but adjust them for your PC. After all, the configuration often affects the screen resolution, cursor speed and other individual characteristics that are best chosen for yourself.

But if it so happens that your PC is average and the characteristics of the system do not give an ideal “picture”, you can look for a config to increase the “FPS”.
In general, the issue of personnel is rather controversial. Of course, if the PC displays an indicator of 120 or more frames per second, then you do not need any improvements. If its value is up to 30-40, then the improvements will not hurt. But even for those with a high FPS, a config is needed in order to balance speed and sudden changes.
Often such differences occur when changing locations. So you stood in a dark room, after which you ran out into the open, and the enemies threw smoke, and then a grenade exploded nearby, and so on. All this puts a heavy strain on the PC and the FPS falls.

But when you learn what a config is, you understand that these are not only parameters for improving FPS. There are a large number of teams that save the game from "garbage". You can remove unnecessary parts, corpses and other unnecessary virtual things.
