Unknown to us in Russia, but dearly beloved at home and known and in demand in the West, playwright Jordi Galseran presented us with the wonderful play The Gronholm Method. It was this work that brought him popularity; a feature film was even shot on it.
General analysis
The play "The Gronholm Method" was written 10 years ago, but it is relevant now as never before. The office here is just a metaphor, the whole world is mired in inhumanity, and this is most clearly manifested in the office staff. This work can be called a psychological detective story - intense, but at the same time with notes of humor and sarcasm. Until the very end, it is impossible to understand where the lie is, and where the sincerity is, the heroes have to resort to the most unexpected maneuvers in order to end up being the only single winner. The idea of the play “The Gronholm Method” consists, first of all, of revealing to all mankind the truth that everything human in many of us has long been dead, and we are just dummies, actors, changing their roles every day in order to get as much as possible
more benefits in everything. And it doesn’t matter whether you come for an interview or to visit the parents of your future wife, the skill is to appear to those whom the people around you want to see. The "Gronholm Method" puts on masks on the heroes in order to reveal their true essence, to show them who they are.
Brief description of the plot
The story begins with the fact that job applicants come to the office of a large corporation. They were attracted by money and power, but they still do not know that no one is waiting for them in this office, and they will conduct the interview with themselves. The reader’s attention may be attracted by a bright detail of the interior design. This is a stuffed shark - it seems to hint at the principle of action of such companies and humans in the modern world. All that awaits our heroes inside is an empty hall, where a cruel game will unfold.
Having gathered in one place, the “players” are perplexed why none of the leaders met them, what should they do next. They will receive the answer on the computer screen, in the form of a task, and there will be several of them. All characters are given
freedom of choice: if you do not want to, you can leave. But she is imaginary, there is no turning back, and our heroes are not so stupid as to lose without starting the game. The main intrigue of the play “The Gronholm Method” is that one of the applicants is actually a decoy, that is, an employee of the company, and they still have to find out exactly who. One of the mocking tasks is to play the plane crash, put masks on the “players” and make them decide who to give the only parachute to. But this is not the most terrible task, as if they want to squeeze out all that is human that is left in them. As a result, a whole drama unfolds, the mental suffering of the heroes stumbles upon the wall of their own indifference.
The final
There can be only one winner, but the question is who it is: a cynical scoundrel or a good person. Modern society, hidden under the guise of an office drama, is on display, but not every spectator sees himself in this chaos. The Gronholm Method is a book worth reading and appreciating; it is truly a revelation of the present.
