S7 Airlines (in the recent past, Sibir Airlines) is one of the leading air carriers in our country. If you purchased a ticket for flight S7, you should familiarize yourself with the baggage allowance in advance so that when checking in there will not be any misunderstanding.
General Company Information
S7 Airlines is based at two airports: Tolmachevo (Novosibirsk) and Domodedovo (Moscow).
The carrier is developing, its route network is growing, and more and more of its branches are opening at Russian airports. The company provides air transportation throughout Russia, as well as to European countries, the Middle East and Asian regions.
S7 aircraft belong to the most famous manufacturers in the aviation industry - Airbus and Boeing.
The air carrier has a fairly flexible fare system and is almost always ready to offer passengers special attractive ticket prices. Sales and promotions are always held. There is a frequent flyer program, S7 Priority, which involves accumulating flight miles. It is also possible to pay for flights and additional services by flight miles.
Tariffs
Not so long ago, S7 airline switched to a new tariff system called SmartChoic. There were tickets irrevocable and "baggage-free".
Now there are 4 tariffs:
- Economic “Basic” - non-refundable, baggage and seat selection - paid services.
- Economic “Flexible” - returnable, free baggage and seat selection.
- Basic business - non-refundable, free baggage and seat selection, paid invitation to the deluxe waiting room.
- Business “Flexible” - returnable, free baggage and seat selection, free invitation to the high-level waiting room.
Cabin Baggage Rules
For all air passengers, depending on the class of service, rules for cabin baggage transportation are established.
For air passengers flying in the "economy" class
S7, baggage allowance - one piece weighing up to 10 kg. For air passengers traveling in the business class - two baggage bags with a total weight of not more than 15 kg in total. For cabin luggage dimensions, the established norm is 55/40/20 cm.
It is worth noting that hand luggage and baggage are not cumulative, that is, it can be carried in addition to existing baggage.
Baggage Allowance
Depending on the fare of the S7 ticket, the baggage allowance varies. Economic “Basic” does not provide for free baggage, while “Flexible” involves one baggage bag with a weight of not more than 23 kg. For air passengers departing in business class at the “base” fare, one piece of baggage can be carried up to 32 kg, and at the “flexible” fare - as many as two.
Baggage with dimensions of not more than 2.03 m in the sum of three dimensions is allowed for transportation.
For regular customers of S7 airline, the baggage allowance is greater than that of ordinary passengers. For example, holders of Silver and Gold status cards can carry one extra seat weighing no more than 23 kg for free. A card with Premium status entitles you to carry additional baggage up to 32 kg.
All baggage is checked out individually for each air passenger. Airline rules allow several passengers to combine the free baggage allowance at the same time in a situation where they fly to the same point together. However, it is necessary to prove this fact documented, that is, provide airline tickets and passports.
Excess baggage
If the passenger’s baggage exceeds the established free baggage allowance in weight and quantity, an additional charge is required.
S7 Airlines has set the following excess baggage rates:
- An additional second piece of baggage with a mass not exceeding 23 kg and less than 2.03 m in three dimensions - 50 euros.
- An additional third and next baggage item, not exceeding 23 kg and 2.03 in three dimensions - 150 euros.
- Excess baggage weight in the range of 23-32 kg with a total size of not more than 2.03 m - 50 euros.
- Excess baggage mass from 32 kg, while the sum of the dimensions is less than 2.03 m - 100 euros.
- Exceeding the established dimensions of baggage (more than 2.03 m) - 150 euros.
If the weight of the baggage is in the range of 32-50 kg, its transportation must be agreed in a timely manner with the airline. Whether such heavy baggage is accepted for transportation or not is directly related to the type of airliner declared for the flight and the dimensions of the luggage compartment. Before the planned trip, you need to send the appropriate request of the airline through the "Feedback" section on the website or call the call center.
Each carrier, including S7, has its own baggage allowance and tariffs for excess baggage. Clarification of these rules should be dealt with in a timely manner a few days before the planned trip, and even better - when buying a ticket, in order to avoid unpleasant situations when registering at the airport of departure and unplanned expenses. Details can be found on the company's website.
