This fishing tackle has different names. Since many homemade products of this type are based on a common cork from champagne, it is called a “cork”. Because of the hooks sticking out in all directions - a "companion". But most often - just a "pacifier".
This name partly describes the mechanism of the gear. As soon as the carp nipple is in the water, the bait, inside of which at least three hooks are hidden, begins to slowly soak and spread its aroma around. Attracted by him, the crucian at first gently pulls the bait, as if sucking it. Finding no danger, he begins to boldly process the lump and, in the end, releases one of the hooks, which, without noticing, swallows. Feeling the point, the fish tries to escape and immediately self-cuts.
There is no reason to buy such tackle on the market, since you can assemble it yourself. Now let's talk about how to make a pacifier for crucian carp.
One of the most successful designs is based on a spring feeder made of 1.5
mm stainless wire. Six forged hooks (No. 6 or 7) fastened in leashes in pairs are folded together, tied with a loop at the top and inserted inside the spring. The loop is tightened at the beginning of the spring turns so that the hooks with leashes are below the end turn.
Such a nipple for crucian carp is equipped with a spring bait around the bait, which simultaneously plays the role of bait. After that, the hooks start from different sides from the bottom up and hide with a sting in a spherical bait. Curb gear clings to a carbine.
Another simple construction can be made from a plastic bottle cap. A metal washer weighing 20-30 grams, equal in diameter to the lid, must be attached to its outer side with a bolt and nut. The length of the bolt must be selected so that after tightening the nut it almost does not protrude from it, while the nut should be inside the cover. With such a sinker, the carp nipple flies far and correctly enters the water. On the one hand, a hole is made in the side wall of the lid for attachment to the fishing line, on the other hand, holes for leashes 4-5 cm long with hooks. After the lid is filled with bait and hooks are hidden in it, the tackle is ready for casting.
Among the ways to make a pacifier for crucian carp, the most original is the design made of a spoon with a sawn-off handle. The spoon should be stainless steel or nickel silver. A hole for fastening to the fishing line is drilled in a small tail left from the handle, on the opposite side there are holes for small wire loops. Leashes with hooks are attached to these loops. Each hook is equipped with a
foam ball to easily exit the bait when released. Equipped with a bait, the nipple has a streamlined shape, so that it can be cast not only further, but more precisely.
With the recipe for "dishes" for crucian, you have to experiment. An excessively hard bait will crumble upon impact on the surface of the water. Too sticky will not release hooks. And, in addition, it should last long enough in the water. The correct bait for the nipples has the consistency of plasticine: it can be cooked from millet, adding semolina when grinding for thickness.
Fans of “proper” fishing for such tackle are considered unsportsmanlike. Moreover, the nipple for crucian carp is considered semi-legal, and in some places poaching because of its catchiness and the number of hooks. Before you go fishing with such tackle, you should ask if there is a risk instead of crucians to "catch" a decent fine on it.
