The Word program is rightfully considered the leader among all text editors. It includes many tools for working with text and more. But sometimes, at first glance, the simplest actions in it are performed too pretentiously.
This article will talk about how to write vertically in Word. The fact is that there is no special tool in the program that could change the direction of the text in one click. Therefore, the article will present three other ways to do this.
Using table
Almost everyone knows how to add a table to a document, but few people realize that it can be used to make text vertical. We will talk about how to write vertically in Word using the table for these purposes.
Initially, you need to add the table itself. By the way, we will need only one cell. For this:
- Click the "Insert" tab.
- On the toolbar, in the "Tables" group, click on the "Table" button.
- In the drop-down menu, specify the size of the table "1x1".
- Now, depending on the amount of text, you need to stretch the cell. This is done simply: move the cursor to the lower right corner and, holding the left mouse button (LMB), start to drag the edge.
- Now you need to put the text itself in the cell - you can enter it manually or copy and paste using the keyboard shortcuts CTRL + C and CTRL + V.
- Right-click on the cell (RMB) and select "Text Direction" in the context menu. In the window that appears, you need to indicate the direction of this text itself. Then press the "OK" button.
- At the last stage, you only need to remove the borders of the table. But, if the size does not suit you, you can change it again. To remove borders, right-click on the table and select "Borders" in the menu, selecting "No Border" in it.
Using the text box
How to write vertically in Word using a table, we figured it out, but the method may not work for everyone, so now we will analyze the method that uses the text field.
But initially you need to create it:
- To do this, click on the "Text field" button, which is located in the "Insert" tab, in the "Text" tool group.
- And in the dialog that appears, select the very first template: "Simple Label."
- A window will appear on the sheet in which you need to enter text or copy it. You can also resize it, this is done the same way as with the table.
- Now you need to flip the clock field. To do this, double-click on it and in the "Format" tab. In the "Text" group, find the "text direction" button and click on it. In the drop-down list, specify the direction. In the same tab, click on the "Shape Outline" button and select "No Outline" from the menu.
This was the second way to write vertically in Word, but not the last.
