History

Monastir Airport is relatively young relative to other Tunisian air gates. During the battles of the period 1939-1946. at this place was a military airfield. During the North African campaign, the 81st US Air Force fighter group was stationed here. Later, the place was given to oblivion and remembered about it only at the beginning of the XXI century. So, in June 2004, the Tunisian government decided to create a new airport terminal on the territory of the former airfield.
