Wireless networks have recently become more and more popular. This is understandable, because mobility is valued above all in the modern world. But wouldnโt it be nice for you to sit with a laptop anywhere in your home and enjoy high-speed Internet access? This is where the quite natural question arises, how to install a wireless network? First you must purchase all the necessary equipment, after which you can begin to address the issue.
How to set up a wireless network automatically
To do this, you can use the wireless wizard, which is launched from the Control Panel. This wizard can only help you with setting up the network that uses the access point. After clicking on โNextโ you will find yourself in a window that has no analogue in terms of setting up a wired network. In this window, you must assign SS1D - the identifier of the wireless network with which other computers will be connected to your network. You can select any connection name, for example, MyWireless. In the same window, you must select the method for setting the network key, which is something like a password for access, and the parameter in SS1D by its functionality looks a lot like a username. It is most correct to leave this parameter by default, that is, the system itself will choose the optimal key option for the network. Let's talk more about how to set up a wireless network. At the bottom of the settings window, you can find a place for a tick with which you can enable WPA encryption, since it is much more reliable than the default WEP encryption.
If you decide to register the key yourself, then you should select the option "Assign a network key manually", after clicking on "Next", you will find yourself in the window for entering the key. Do not skimp on the length of the key, do not make it excessively simple. It is important to maximize your level of protection, rather than reduce it. After entering your own key, you find yourself in the final stage of the procedure, which allows you to configure a wireless network on your computer. There are also options for choosing subsequent actions. They consist in how other computers of this wireless network will be configured.
Now consider how to configure a wireless network on all devices. The most convenient and preferred is the first method. It consists in the fact that you take a USB flash drive, connect it to a computer with the wizard running, and then go with it to the access point. After the access point is configured, you must connect it to the entire computer of the intended wireless network. The last step is to reconnect the flash drive to the first computer, after which you can delete the information and send the configuration information for printing. It should not be accessible to anyone, otherwise your network will be in great danger.
However, if you choose manual installation, you will be forced to enter some parameters yourself. It is important not to forget to print the network parameters, otherwise you will not be able to make settings on other computers, since you will not enter the necessary parameters. The same parameters may be useful to you when you connect another or more computers to your wireless network in the future.
Now you know how to set up a wireless network in automatic and manual mode, it remains only to put the acquired knowledge into practice. It is important to understand that during the setup process you should be extremely careful not to make any mistakes, as each incorrect step can lead to the fact that you not only fail to complete the procedure, but also harm your existing settings.
