Contact lenses are perhaps the most remarkable means of vision correction without surgery. Dressing on the front surface of the eye, they tightly fit him and take its shape. Contact lenses have a lot of undeniable advantages over already familiar glasses: they do not limit the field of view, restore the ability to binocular vision, increase its sharpness and protect the eye in case of injuries. In order to wear contact lenses as comfortable as possible and not lead to visual fatigue, decrease in visual performance and visual impairment, it is important to know how to wear lenses and how to care for them.
Contact lenses require particularly careful care, and strict adherence to the rules that an ophthalmologist will tell you when writing a prescription for lenses. In addition, you can always read about how to wear and remove lenses in the instructions for the lenses and the solution for them. Regular, proper care of the lenses and their timely replacement is a guarantee of comfortable wearing of lenses without harm to health.
Currently, in ophthalmology rooms and salons there are classes for beginners, which teach the use of lenses. For the first time, a doctor or a nurse will help you put them on, as well as explain in detail how to wear lenses at home. The first few days, putting on lenses will be a rather difficult task, since the human eye is so arranged that when it gets into it, it starts to close spontaneously, making it difficult to put the lens in place. Wearing lenses in the early days can also cause some inconvenience, some need some time to get used to, while others do not feel any discomfort and may even forget that the lenses need to be removed in the evening.
However, a few days will pass, and you and your eyes will get used to this innovation, how to wear lenses and how to remove them, you will remember by heart without any clues. And in a couple of months this process will simply be brought to automaticity and become a familiar thing.
Installation and wearing of contact lenses implies strict observance of a number of rules:
- Before putting on the lenses, wash your hands with soap and water and wipe them dry with a towel that does not leave fibers on your hands.
- We take out a container for storing contact lenses and open it. As a rule, except for the designations R - the right eye and L - the left eye, the lids of the container differ in color. So, the lids of the container with the designation R are blue or green.
- We take out the lens from the container with the help of special tweezers with silicone tips and place it on the tip of the index finger. Check if it is turned inside out - in shape it should resemble a bowl with even edges. Next, with the middle finger of the other hand, raise the upper eyelid, and with the index finger, we retract the lower eyelid.
- We install the lens in the lower sector of the eyeball while looking up. Then carefully lower the eyelid and blink 3-4 times, while the lens will be in place and you should not feel discomfort.
It is recommended that you wear lenses to sit at a table so that it is easier to find it if you drop it. Before putting on or removing lenses, check the contents of the container cells; if the liquid is cloudy and contains particles of dust or dirt, be sure to change it and rinse the lenses.
Even if the vision of both eyes is the same, never confuse or change lenses, to avoid confusion always begin to remove and put on lenses from the same eye, for example, the right one. Try not to touch the inner surface of the lens; if this happens, be sure to rinse the lens. In order for the lenses to last longer and maintain their transparency, use exclusively the recommended care products for them and never rinse the lenses with plain water. If the lens sticks after removal, in no case try to disconnect it - you may damage it. Just place it in a container with liquid.
