The computing power of modern computers is increasing with each new model. In part, the need to “disperse” their components has already disappeared as unnecessary. However, as often happens, the modernization of the software component does not keep up with the progress of the hardware. That is why on the Web you can meet the question "How to improve the quality of the video?". Let's see who sets it and why, as well as how to solve the voiced problem.
One of the tasks of any computer bearing the proud name "Multimedia" is to be able to play video. And not in slide show mode, but smoothly and in good quality. Ideally, the user does not need to learn how to improve the quality of the video, but practice proves the opposite.
The viewing process can be divided into several stages:
- organization of access of the operating system to the video file (the file can be recorded on any media or can be on the Web);
- launch of a special application that can convert the encoded digital file stream into an image on the screen.
Therefore, there are two ways to improve video quality. Almost always, a video file is a video stream compressed by special algorithms (x264, Xvid, etc.). This is done to reduce the volume, which in the uncompressed form amounts to hundreds of gigabytes (time-dependent). Those who are looking for a way to improve the quality of the video can be recommended to view only high-quality files (the compression level is minimal).
Watching videos on a computer is possible using special programs - players. It is obvious that quality is heavily dependent on them. As already mentioned, the compressed stream loses some of the information originally contained in it, however, thanks to the various modes of software processing, it is possible to realize the improvement of the video in the players themselves. The user only needs to complete the configuration. It is important to remember two conditions: the performance of the central processor and video card should be at the proper level, and the quality of the reproduced file should be at least at a good average level.
Let's look at an example of how to improve video quality. Almost all modern software players support the ability to improve the displayed image. Some to a greater extent, others to a lesser extent. For video playback, it is necessary that codecs are installed in the operating system. These are special files, installer copied to the system folders, registered and registered in the registry. In simple terms, a codec is an “instruction” for a program on how to interact with a particular type of multimedia file. Often codecs support settings.
The Media Player, which is part of the Windows system, is quite functional, but it implements a minimum of video quality settings. You can access the ffdshow codec (decoder), which is often used to process the video stream (Tools - Options - DVD (optional). To improve the video, activate “Deinterlacing” and, necessarily, “Postprocessing.” In the latter, move the Presets slider to the extreme right position.
The next player, Media Player Classic, in addition to ffdshow, has built-in capabilities. We start, press "O". To improve the video, follow the “Playback - Output” and select “DirectShow video”. Now the most progressive is madVR.
One of the most “advanced” players in this regard is PotPlayer. It implements many functions to improve the displayed image. It can open video files even without using third-party codecs. After starting the program, press F5 (settings). The choice of the menu item is obvious - "Video". Here you can select a handler and some other features. For problems with playback, you need to return everything back. In the color space, select "High-quality conversion" and turn on the hardware processing. Deinterlacing is set to "Automatic". The item "Video Processing" contains a huge list of improvements. The decision on the appropriateness of their use is made individually.
Also worth noting is VLC Player - it is one of the best for streaming video.
