But it’s much harder for them to serve their sentences and get used to prison principles. On the territory of the Russian Federation there are several correctional facilities intended for women. Foundation History
Mozhaisk women's colony has existed since 1950. The former prisoner of war camp, which functioned during the Great Patriotic War, was chosen as the place for its foundation. Initially, this correctional institution provided for the serving of punishment only for mothers with children. But this division did not last long, and starting in 1953, other women began to be brought to the colony.
In 1951, a children's home was founded in the Mozhaisk women's colony, and since 1956, an evening school began, which was designed for 200-250 people. The place of residence of prisoners is hostels. There are several of them in the colony, all of them were built at different times. Currently, women serving sentences are located in four residential buildings, the total area of which is more than 2.5 thousand square meters. m. Since 1961, industrial buildings began to be erected on the territory of the Mozhaisk women's colony. It is worth noting that the main source of income for prisoners is a garment factory, whose total area is approximately 1.5 hectares, while the total area of the correctional facility is slightly more than 8 hectares.

Life of prisoners
