Before you start talking about how to install deb-applications, you need to understand what it is and whether to do it at all.
All documents created using computer programs have their own extension. Here deb is an extension for binary package files , which, in turn, are needed to install and distribute projects operating on dpkg packages, for example, Debian (a combination of two names, founder Debian Jan Murdoch and his ex-wife) Debra).
Installing deb files requires a jailbreak. Most of the programs created in the Cydia Store by external developers are distributed only in the specified format. For various reasons, they are not added to the App Store. Those downloaded through mobile traffic in the application themselves are installed here without any problems.
And install deb-files downloaded on the Internet occurs in several ways, which we will discuss below.
1. Installation through the terminal. This happens as follows: using the download manager, copy deb to / var / root / tmp. From the standard BigBoss, using Cydia, install MobileTerminal. Put it into action and enter the commands: su root - alpine - dpkg -i / tmp / filename.
2. Installing deb with Autoinstall Cydia. If the application is new, it is worth connecting to the network to give time to the system files to automatically update. Then, resorting to the file manager, copy .deb to / var / root / Media / Cydia / AutoInstall. If the automatic installation folder is not found in place, you must create it yourself. Now you need to reboot the device: disconnect and enable again. When you turn on the Cydia application, all files will be installed automatically.
Before installing deb in this way, you need to familiarize yourself with possible errors and find out how to fix them:
- Everything was completed successfully if there is nothing in the AutoInstall folder after the reboot, that is, it will be empty. If it does not appear in the installed packages or is in the queue for removal, it means that in the process the automatic update of Cydia was skipped. In this case, delete everything and start in a new way, without missing anything.
- If the automatic installation folder after the reboot is not empty, then the error is that it was created in the wrong place. To fix this, you must follow the instructions exactly.
The third way, how to install deb, can only be used on the Windows operating system. The device connects to the computer via a USB cable. Cyder II is launched, the program will create the necessary folders and files automatically and independently. Debs are copied to archives created in this way. Cyder now turns on. All created files are in the “Synchronization” tab and they can be moved either to AutoInstall or to Sidia’s cache. In the first case, you just need to restart the folder, and the program will start working on its own. In the second - Sidia is launched, the desired program is selected and the installation is launched, downloading from the Internet is not required. All is ready!
Via iFile - the installation method from the repository to the device. In absolutely any place, using the download manager, the necessary files are thrown. iFile is launched and the Install button is activated. After the installation is complete, the desktop is updated with a subsequent reboot.
In addition to all the above methods of how to install deb, you can change the access rights. To do this, download via Cydia iFile, install using one of the methods described above, run. We find the place where the file lies, go to its attributes (blue arrow opposite the name on the right of the screen). Scroll down and find access rights. For their correct editing in all points “group - user - everything”, check the “read-write-execute-cache” commands. There should be four, only in this case access will be allowed. We fix our actions by clicking the “Finish” button, which is highlighted in blue in the upper right corner. All access rights are open and you can safely continue to work.
