Taimen is a fish (or, as it is also called, krasulia), which belongs to the Salmon family. She has a narrow elongated body with a flattened head and a large mouth. Its head in structure resembles a pike.
Taimen - fish is bright silver with numerous dark spots located along the lateral line. The scales of the dye are relatively small. The caudal and anal fins are colored in shades of red, and the dorsal and pectoral fins are gray. Since 2001, European species of this fish are inscribed in our Red Book. Therefore,

Distribution and lifestyle
Krasulia lives only in flowing cold lakes or rivers. She never goes to sea. Most often, it can be found in fast waters with cool and clear water. In our country, it is found in the territory from the Urals to the Far East and Yakutia. Taimen is a predatory fish. She feeds on perch, roach, gudgeons and other fish. Its fertility, on average, reaches 14 thousand eggs with a diameter of up to five and a half millimeters. The duration of the incubation period is up to one and a half months. The only migratory variety of this fish is its Sakhalin species - a chewer with larger scales. She lives in the Sea of Japan. Taimen is a fish that usually stays under sunken snags and trees, in holes in the bottom, from where it makes strange “rattling” sounds heard from a distance. In the morning and in the evening she goes to the surface in search of food, in winter she keeps herself under the ice.
FishingThe most prolific fishing in taimen is in Siberia and the Urals, where sometimes ten-kilogram individuals are found. She bites during this period very unpredictably: sometimes she hits the bait with her tail or, grabbing it abruptly, drags it to the bottom. In all cases, in order not to miss the taimen, a very quick cut is needed, after which he can make a breakthrough and pull the fishing line tens of meters. This fish often breaks down as it swallows the bait poorly. Sometimes it goes down to the bottom, where, resting against stones, it breaks off the fishing line. Therefore, experienced fishermen know that it must be brought very quickly to the shore and pulled out with a hook for the tail.

Taimen - fish, delicious in all types of culinary processing. It is often cooked by boiling with white sauce and served with fried vegetables. The krasul is stuffed with seasonings unusual for fish dishes, such as nuts, fruits. Some eat it with pomegranate juice.
