The Ryazan Drama Theater is one of the oldest in the country. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. His repertoire includes drama, comedy, classic, contemporary plays and children's tales.
History
The Ryazan Drama Theater was opened in 1787. At that time, a wooden building was built for him. It was originally called the Opera House. The first troupe consisted of serfs and freed actors. The repertoire then included performances staged based on the works of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, William Shakespeare, Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol. Later, the plays of A. Chekhov and A. Ostrovsky appeared on the Ryazan stage. Famous actors came to the theater with tours, including from other countries. In 1862, the Opera House acquired a new status - it became an urban drama theater. Own troupe appeared here in 1935. Today, the main director of the theater is Karen Nersisyan.
