If you often encounter verification of Word documents, then you just need to know how to enable editing mode in Word and how to use it. This program tool is simply indispensable if you want to point out a person to his mistakes, while not making adjustments to his text.
Our article will discuss how the edit mode in Word works. We will talk about all its features, and as a result, you can independently use the named mode without resorting to the instructions.
First step: enter edit mode
First of all, you must initially enter the edit mode in Word. This is done on different versions of the program in different ways. For example, in the Word 2003, you will need to open the Service tab and look for the Corrections item in it and click on it. In later versions, all this is done through the "Review" tab. In it, find the group of tools “Record corrections” and click on the button “Corrections”. It is also advised to select the "All corrections" item in the drop-down list next to it.
By the way, this mode can be turned on much faster by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + E.
After all the manipulations done, the editing mode in Word will be turned on, and you can safely proceed to edit the text, without fear that the source will suffer.
Second step: making corrections
In fact, this point could have been skipped, since it all comes down to the fact that you are correcting the document, and instead of completely editing it, just edits are made, without changing the source. But it’s worth telling exactly how this happens.
Suppose you saw that some word in the text is superfluous. In this case, it would be wise to delete it. So do it, but it will not disappear, but only be crossed out, which will make it clear to the other user what you had in mind. Also, the correction will be highlighted in red to attract attention.
The same will happen if you enter some other word - it will stand out so that the author of the text can understand what exactly he missed.
Word editing mode helps a lot if you work with a person at a remote distance. In this case, instead of claiming words, you just need to send him a document with corrections.
Third step: add notes
Sometimes highlighting corrections is not enough for another user to understand what his error is. In this case, it would be nice to paint the reason. For this purpose, the program has the tool "Create Note", which can be used only when the editing mode is on.
Using it is very simple. You must first click on your fix, and then on the "Create Note" button, which is located on the toolbar, not far from the "Corrections" button. You can see the exact placement in the picture below.
After that, an additional area will appear on the right side of the document where you can enter an explanation. You can do this with all the changes, but you cannot create a note that is not tied to them.
If we talk about how to remove the editing mode in Word, then this is quite simple. You just need to click on the "Corrections" button again.
