This is especially true for hairdressing services and, in particular, changes in hair color. It often happens that, having painted in one color or another, the girl does not like the result, and she wants to get rid of this shade as soon as possible. But for this, she will have to wait at least two weeks, so as not to completely ruin the hair with chemical compounds. But you can initially not risk it, but try first changing the hair color in Photoshop. It is both safe and fun. The main thing is to take a good photo where the face and hair are clearly visible. And everything else is a matter of technology.
This article will be especially useful for dark-haired girls who want to see if they will go with lighter shades. So, to change the color of hair in Photoshop, we have to use color grading. For it to succeed, the hair in the photo needs to be highlighted. You can use selection tools, but it’s best to use the Quick Mask feature. Its icon is located at the bottom of the
toolbar (circle in the rectangle). Click the icon, then take a soft brush and select the foreground color - black. We begin to dye hair, highlighting them. Do not worry that the hair is colored red, it should be so. If during painting you “climbed out” of the necessary boundaries, switch the brush to white and carefully erase what is not needed.
The next step, how to change the hair color in Photoshop, is their final selection. To make it happen, once again click on the "Quick Mask" icon. Everything stood out for us, except for hair. Since we need them, we need to invert the selection. To do this, go to the "Selection" menu and click on "Invert". If only hair is highlighted, you do not need to invert. Next, press Ctrl + J, thus creating a new layer with hair. It is to him that we will apply the adjustment layers. To create them at the bottom of the palette, click on the black and white circle. A menu appears in which we select "Levels".
To further change the hair color in Photoshop, create a clipping mask. To do this, press the Alt key and, holding it, move the cursor over the joint between the layers in the palette (the Layers tab), and left-click. If a small arrow appears on the left pointing down, this means that a clipping mask has been created. In the window with the levels you will see a histogram. Find the gray slider (it is responsible for the midtones) and start moving it to the left. You will see that the hair begins to lighten. You can also move other runners to and fro, choosing the desired effect.
The next step, how to change the hair color in Photoshop, will be the selection of colors. To do this, again click on the icon with adjustment layers (black and white circle) and select “Color Tone / Saturation” in the menu. Just like in the previous step, create a clipping mask. By double-clicking on the thumbnail that is next to the layer, you can call up the option you need. And now we need exactly the one with which we will correct the color and its saturation. In the window that appears, we begin to experiment by moving the sliders left and right. When choosing the “Color balance” function as the next adjustment layer, the hair can be given an additional shade. Remember to create the clipping mask again.
