Social bookmarking is a script that allows us to quickly send a link to an interesting page to our social network. The script is inserted in the right place in the source code and when viewing the page is displayed in the form of several buttons. Each popular social network has its own button, but you can often find a series of buttons from integrated scripts.
In addition to cases of inserting directly into the source code of the page, there are options when the social bookmark is made in the form of a plugin. After configuring the plugin, a special module will appear at the bottom of the text. Social bookmarks of this module, as a rule, lead to the most popular social networks. Many believe that this is enough now. These recently include Yandex - the Russian search engine.
Yandex offers
This search engine, like its American "colleague," also offered Yandex Social Bookmarks at one time, but this service has recently been closed. Now we have the opportunity to use the "Visual bookmarks." Like Google, registration is required here. In addition, Yandex has a Share service. In it, you can configure the choice of social networks, the size of the buttons, their appearance, and as a result we get the code that you need to insert on the site for these buttons to appear.
Unlike the plugin, we can arrange the buttons anywhere - in the center, left or right. True, to place the codes on the page, you need to have basic knowledge of HTML, because any error can cause the page to corrode when viewed. In addition, if you change the appearance of the edit, you will have to make it again, and the plugin will always work.
One button - alternative to Yandex
If you don’t like the option from Yandex, you can find other variations on the Web. For example, the service "One Button". The name was not chosen by chance. The service is positioned as a button for social bookmarks and social networks in one bottle. The service settings are simple - choose the look (one of 4) and get the code. However, the service offers a ready-made plug-in to Wordpress users. This is not to say that this is really one button - in any case it will look like a line, but the service performs the functions declared by the developers.
Pluso
Pluso is an alternative service that will allow you to not only create a bookmark on the site where the buttons are located. If you have a printer, you can immediately print the page or send a link to it by mail. The setting is the same as the one-button service, however, the plug-in is not provided to us - only the code.
In the upper right field, select the services that are displayed immediately (a list of the others is indicated above, but for their appearance you need to click on the button with a plus on the right). Then below we set up the design and even lower we get the generated code. The choice of design is much wider than the previous service, and, importantly, everything works in real time. Changed the parameter - the preview block and code immediately change. I liked it - they copied the code, pasted it on the page.
The other side of the coin
In addition to the benefit for the visitor, social bookmarking has another side to the coin. It can be called one of the ways to promote the project both in search engine ratings and on word of mouth.
For search engines, an additional link to the project increases the rating of the project, and accordingly, the position in the search results. New visitors come to the site to search, if the visitor likes it - a new bookmark will appear, it will be indexed and so on.
On the other hand, like social networks, social bookmarking services allow users to exchange links, which, in turn, also increases the position of the site. Moreover, if in the usual case the search engine gives us several dozen links to similar resources, and it’s difficult to guess which one we’ll go to, then the link sent to us personally will probably be open.
But bookmarks are just one, and this is not the most effective way to advance in the search results. Any specialist will call you at least five more. And among these five, most likely, there will be no way that is undeservedly forgotten. He will not raise the link to your site immediately in the top 5 of the search results (all the more so since the search engines use the first links to advertise their related projects), but when the project is just beginning to exist, any option that can help to become stronger should be taken into account.
Bookmarks as a way to promote
Few people think about this, but all the social bookmarking services, where you drop the link to the page you like, are registered with search engines, and search services can visit these bots quite often. At the same time, the service has, in addition to personal links, which, except for you, (theoretically) no one will see, are also the so-called general ones. And any Internet address added to the service increases the total address mass, which is positively noted by search engines, and then the situation develops according to the method described above. Therefore, one of the ways to promote can be called a run on social bookmarks, while not necessarily yours.
Any link placed there helps the site to rise. The process is long, but effective. And most importantly, for a relatively small amount of money (or by making some own efforts) you can get a good mass gain. And with the next update of indicators, search engines can immediately grow. And what is the growth of the site, we will not consider separately. At a minimum, the ability to advertise at higher prices.
