Ramenskoye Airport, located in the suburbs of Moscow, will soon become a major international transport hub. Previously, it was used only for experimental flights. But since 2012, they started talking about servicing passenger transportation in it, which will significantly reduce the load on other metropolitan airports.
Airport Information
Airport "Ramenskoye" named after Gromov is located within the city of Zhukovsky. It is noteworthy that the aerodrome complex does not have a specific class, as it is designed to provide takeoff and landing of absolutely any airliner without any restrictions on takeoff weight. Runway number 12L / 30R is the longest runway in all of Europe. Its length is 5.4 km and its width is 70 m. Another runway 08L / 26R is under reconstruction, therefore it is now used as a taxiway and aircraft parking.
Ramenskoye Airport is the base for the divisions of the design bureaus Il, Tu, Sukhoi, as well as for the Federal State Autonomous Institution of Emergencies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, Alrosa-Avia, and Aviastar-Tu. It also provides air cargo services.
The airfield complex in Zhukovsky was built back in the 80s. It was intended to send fragments of the Buran orbital rocket-ship to the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
In 2012, it was decided to create an airport on its base, which will be part of the infrastructure of the Moscow Transport Aircraft Node. This decision was made due to the fact that three Moscow airports can not cope with the volume of passenger traffic and the new runways have not yet been put into operation.
Construction of the airport in Ramenskoye: stages
The construction work under the project includes three phases. It is expected that construction will be completed by 2019. To this end, 34.5 hectares of land have been allocated on the territory of the airfield complex, which will have three terminals (including one freight terminal), car parking and parking lots , a service station, hotels, offices, buildings for commercial use.
The first phase ends in 2016. During this period, a terminal for servicing air passengers will be commissioned, the area of which is 15,000 m 2 and the maximum throughput capacity is 1,800,000 people per year. The construction of a 4-lane highway leading to the terminal building will also be completed.
The second stage is completed by the end of 2017. It is assumed that at this time the construction of the second passenger terminal, which is 2 times larger than the first, will be completed. Throughput will increase to 6,000,000 passengers. Parking will be built and a hotel complex. Until 2017, the existing cargo terminal will undergo reconstruction and will be able to provide customs and warehouse services.
The third stage will last from the end of 2017 to 2019. At this time, the area of the first terminal will increase by 2 times. A maintenance point for aircraft will also be commissioned.
In 2021, the terminal will be able to serve up to 12,000,000 people a year.
Ramenskoye airport on the map: how to get
The new airport building is located between the Moscow Region cities - Zhukovsky and Ramensky - 3 km from the 42 km railway station.
As part of the construction work, the issue of developing transport infrastructure is being addressed . It is assumed that the reconstruction of the platform "Rest" will be made, where the trains of the Kazan direction stop. From the platform to the airport, passengers will travel by bus.
Currently, you can get there by taxi, as well as buses or trains. Buses run from the Kotelniki metro at half-hour intervals. And the trains to the platforms "Rest" and "42 km" depart from the Kazan station.
Prospects
By March of this year, the new airport will change its name and become Zhukovsky.
Over the course of five years, more than 10 billion rubles have been invested in the project. By the end of the third phase of construction, more than 240 km 2 of infrastructure facilities will be commissioned. Thus, more than 10 million passengers can be served here annually.
The air transport hub in Ramenskoye will become a single center for civil, experimental and state aviation. It is the inclusion of civil aviation in the scope of the enterprise that will attract new investments.
Flights
Starting in March 2016, the new airport in Ramenskoye begins servicing passenger flights. However, the schedule has not yet been drawn up.
Initially, it was planned that flights will be operated from 2015 by the domestic low-cost airline Dobrolet, later renamed Victory, but due to sanctions, the company's activities were suspended. It has now become known that the first flights will be operated by the iFly carrier.
It is assumed that low-cost airlines will be based in Ramenskoye because they do not have their own “air harbor”.
Ramenskoye Airport is the fourth “air gate” of Moscow. Its construction began in 2012, and it begins to work in March this year. Such successes were achieved with state support. But he will not be able to compete with three metropolitan airports.
