Most users of Windows systems, starting with the seventh modification, know that not all files or directories can be deleted with the standard action or using the Delete button. To perform such procedures with some objects, the system may require administrator rights (if the file or directory does not belong to system components, a proposal for confirmation of the performed actions is usually issued immediately). But how to delete files on behalf of the administrator if such a notification does not appear on the screen? To do this, you can apply several standard methods, which will be discussed in more detail below.
How to delete a file that requires administrator rights: general principles
In general, the easiest way to delete undeletable objects to which access is blocked is to perform the necessary actions when entering the system under the administrator even at startup or when changing the user.
Unfortunately, Windows-systems create one record for the user, giving it maximum permissions. But the removal or execution of some other actions is prevented by the so-called super administrator.
On the other hand, the question of how to delete files on behalf of the administrator may have a slightly different solution from the above method, namely:
- change of attributes of objects;
- obtaining administrator rights;
- disabling UAC control (accounts) ;
- activation of extended privileges;
- use of the command console.
In some cases, when it comes to files and folders of installed programs, you can use special uninstaller applications that allow you to remove everything and everything from the system, for which the main condition is to run as administrator. After that, you can even get rid of the built-in Windows components that are not removed in the usual way or even are not in the list of installed applications.
Change attributes of deleted objects
So, how to delete files from disk if they are not deleted for some reason? First of all, you need to go into the properties section (RMB menu) in the usual “Explorer” or in any other file manager and check the included additional attributes.
It often happens that there can be set the parameter "Read Only", which allows you to open the file for viewing, but deletion, moving, renaming or editing is prohibited. For deletion, the checkbox on the corresponding attribute is simply unchecked, after which the changes are saved, and the file becomes available for deletion.
How to get administrator rights?
But it was the simplest and far from ideal method. In order to avoid such problems, isn’t it easier to immediately set the maximum set of privileges for yourself? How to get administrator rights?
To do this, initially, on behalf of the administrator, you need to run the command line (cmd in the "Run" menu), register the net user Admin / active: yes combination in it, and after executing the command reboot the system. Logging in will be done just under the admin, and previously locked files and directories can be deleted without problems.
Turn off registry control
The question of how to delete files on behalf of the administrator has another solution that is not directly related to obtaining additional rights. And it consists in reducing the level of control of registration records.
In order not to search for the desired section for a long time, you should call the search line from the Start menu and enter the abbreviation UAC there. In the parameters window that appears on the left, there is a special slider that you need to rearrange to the lowest position and save the changes.
Note: it is not recommended to use permanent shutdown of control, as this may increase the risk of malicious executable codes entering the system or installing undesirable software.
Setting advanced rights
In principle, you can set for yourself an expanded set of rights for the implementation of absolutely all the actions provided by the system. How to delete files from the disk in this case?
First, in the "Explorer" in the PCM menu, the properties window is called up, the button for additional parameters is clicked on the security tab, after which the owner is replaced with the current user.
Next, go to the permissions section and check the full access point, and then check the boxes for adding and replacing permissions. After saving changes with undeletable objects, you can perform any actions.
Command line usage
If the user is not afraid of using the command console, the question of how to delete files on behalf of the administrator can be resolved with its help. There are two options for action.
In the first case, you can run Explorer with special privileges using the runas / user command:% userdomain% \ administrator “explorer / separate” for this, after which any actions performed in the file manager will be automatically assigned to the administrator.
For the second technique, as an example, consider the question of how to delete a folder as administrator. In this case, the input command should look like this: RMDIR / S / QC: \ FULL_path (for example, for the system partition). The request for rights and confirmation of deletion for the specified directory will be disabled. The disadvantage of this method is that the full path to the file will either have to be entered manually, or copy it from the address bar of the same "Explorer" (copying does not work in Windows7). But in general, it is this method that allows you to get rid of files and directories that were blocked by the super administrator without any problems.
