Probably, you don’t need to say how all users of computers with Windows operating systems are annoyed by the constant appearance of a notification of trust in some running application from the account control service. Just by pressing the button to confirm the confidence in the starting program when you run up to a dozen applications a day, you can lose a lot of time. What is UAC and why is this service needed?
Before considering the main issue, it is worth saying a few words about the control service itself. It appeared on Windows operating systems starting with Vista, and in the seventh modification it was supplemented by a super administrator and additional tools restricting the user in the form of TrustedInstaller and SmartScreen components. What is it for?
Its purpose as one of the tools to ensure system security is to pre-identify potentially unsafe or unwanted programs to launch that supposedly could harm the system itself, although they have absolutely nothing to do with viruses or unwanted software. And with this system it’s absolutely the same that some kind of application is initially launched as an administrator or even is a system one. But there is a share of common sense in this. In this way, the service tries to protect the system from the penetration of threats disguised as official software that the user himself cannot recognize.
Immediately it is worth noting that it is not worth completely deactivating this service, since absolutely all applications and applets running even in the background (which is especially characteristic of viruses and various kinds of advertising modules) will have the same rights to change the system configurations or some important settings.
Basic control settings
How to disable UAC in Windows 10 and below, we will consider a little later, but for now a few words about the basic settings of the controller. You can access the control level through the accounts section in the “Control Panel” through quick access through the “Run” console, through search, or through the registry settings. This is not the point.
There can be only four default settings:
- constant notification for both programs and user actions;
- notification only for programs;
- only for programs with ignoring user actions without dimming the screen;
- complete shutdown (not recommended at all).
How to disable UAC in a classic way?
Now let's move on to practical actions. How to disable UAC? First you need to access the settings themselves.
In the classic version, you can use the standard “Control Panel”, go to the accounts section and use the link to change the control level, after clicking on which the required settings window appears with a slider on the left side of the screen. Here it remains only to select the desired position to set one of the four values indicated above.

The above method of calling the necessary options looks somewhat inconvenient, since the user has to navigate through several sections, which takes more time than direct access to the section. For example, in Windows 10, you can use the search bar, which immediately enters the desired abbreviation (UAC).
But for all Windows systems, starting with the seventh modification, you can use a universal tool - the UserAccountControlSettings.exe command, which is entered in the "Run" console, which immediately redirects the user to the section with installed options, in which the same level adjustment slider is located.
How to disable UAC in Windows 7 and above via the command line?
However, despite the simplest methods discussed above, you can use another technique that combines several solutions - uses the command line, creates and changes the value of the registry key, which is responsible for the level of control currently set. How to disable UAC in this situation?
First you need to run the command line with admin rights, and then run the command above. The attribute "d 0 / f" disables the control completely. To reactivate, an attribute with a unit instead of zero in the middle is used. This method is just completely and eliminates manual intervention in the registry.
Is it worth it to deactivate?
How to disconnect UAC, understood. The most important question remains regarding the complete shutdown of the monitoring service. For practical reasons, it can be noted that if you have a constantly active Internet connection, you should not set UAC to completely deactivate, because running applets that get outside will get uncontrolled privileges to change the system configuration in the background. In this case, it is better to set the level to the third position, when notifications will be issued only for running programs, and not for user actions to change some system parameters (without dimming the screen when a message about trusting the starting application appears).
