Purpose and standard badge size

Any self-respecting company, be it a bank or a cafe, takes care of its customers. And one of the points of good service is to provide visitors with information about employees. That is, when you approach the seller in the store, you already know his name (sometimes his last name) and position. This is possible thanks to a special badge.

What is a badge?

This word, unusual for us, was borrowed from the English language to refer to cards made of plastic or paper, as a rule, of a small size, providing clients and visitors of the institution with brief information about employees.

There are two regular pronunciation forms of the original badge based on the classic translation:

  • English - badge;
  • American - badge.

But many English words have the properties to slightly change when translated into Russian. Badge was no exception. It acquired a milder form - a badge. But nevertheless, a diminutive wording - a badge is more common.

By the way, in the explanatory dictionaries, the badge is interpreted as one of the elements of the uniform.

Destination

Badges are distributed at companies and institutions providing services (for example, cafes and restaurants, pharmacies, shops, beauty salons, banks, etc.), as well as at various public events (for example, auctions, exhibitions, seminars, meetings).

As for the information posted on the plate, it can be any. Most often, the standard badge size provides for the location of attributes such as first name and surname, as well as the position of the employee.

If an individual design is created for a badge, then you can also find the name and logo of the company.

Some badges can be used not only as a small information plate, but also serve as a pass. Often this can be found in large corporations, laboratories and some medical institutions. Then the badges are made to order and additionally contain a photograph of the employee, and sometimes data for automatic skipping (barcode or embedded chip).

Information can be located both vertically and horizontally.

Kinds

The badge can be made to order from special companies (advertising agencies and printing companies), purchased in stationery stores or made manually.

Custom-made badges can be made in various designs and from materials such as:

  • plastic;
  • laminated cardboard ;
  • metal;
  • wood;
  • magnet and so on.

Ready-made badges are most often made in one design solution from a plastic cover and a removable paper card inserted into it (it can be of different densities).

You can make a badge yourself using cardboard and some kind of fastening (for example, pins). But the easiest way to use stickers is stickers on which information is written with a marker. They simply stick to clothes, and then just as easily removed, leaving no residue.

Ways of attaching to clothes:

  • clip;
  • magnet;
  • pin;
  • lace and the like.

Badge size standard (mm) and non-standard

The parameters of a typical badge are similar to the size of a Euroformat business card. The most common standard badge size in all countries is 86 x 54 mm. As a rule, this is enough to accommodate the most necessary information. But there are cases that such a standard badge size does not allow the company logo or other distinctive signs to be accommodated. Then you can make plates to order using your own or other proposed parameters:

  • 70x50 mm;
  • 100x70 mm;
  • 100x100mm.
