The ceiling should be combined with the interior of the room, harmoniously fitting into it, and, of course, correspond to the taste of the tenant himself. It would seem that it could be easier than repairing the ceiling - removed the old, dilapidated layer of whitewash, washed and re-whitened. But today, such coverage is already outdated. There are many ways to decorate the ceiling with creativity and imagination. Of course, you have to work hard, spend money. But such efforts and spent finances will pay off with a beautiful interior.
Ceiling repair primarily depends on how you would like to see it, and then - on your finances. Of course, the simplest solution is to smooth, putty, and then cover it with a layer of white enamel. This is in the event that you do not want to "bother" and spend precious time repairing the ceiling. In addition, this solution is suitable for almost any type of interior.
However, if you have the time and desire and the necessary means at your disposal, it makes sense to use a more original way to repair the ceiling. The surface does not have to be white, other colors will do. And, of course, ceiling repairs do not provide for painting or whitewashing alone. You can use, for example, such types of finishes as pendant, tension, drywall, self-adhesive.
Where to start ceiling repair ? Naturally, with the preparation of its surface, although in some cases it is not required. There are two main ways to level out - the so-called โdryโ and โrawโ.
The first is to apply any mixtures to the previously prepared ceiling.
The โdryโ method is the use of panels, battens and other โdryโ finishing materials. It does not require any training. If the surface drop is not more than 5 cm, then a โcrudeโ method is acceptable.
If the difference in height is not more than five millimeters, then it can be repaired with the help of leveling putty. It is spread on the ceiling with a thin layer, then polished with fine-grained sandpaper.
If this difference is from 2 to 5 centimeters, then putty alone will not be enough; first you have to put the so-called "bandage" - that is, a reinforcing mesh. It can be metal or paint. The first type resembles a medical bandage; it is still occasionally called serpyanka. Glue it to the ceiling with PVA glue or other reliable types of glue. The main thing is that it be well fixed. There is a self-adhesive variety of serpianka.
Unlike a paint net, a metal one is attached not with PVA and similar means, but with special brackets, nails with a wide hat or hooks. She is advised to fix on all types of seams and joints. After the plaster dries, a putty layer is applied to level the surface. If the finish is painting, then a preliminary primer will also be required. Specialists advise using materials from the same manufacturer for the โcompatibilityโ of materials.
There is a group of false ceilings. These are designs that do not require
hanging, and are attached directly to the base surface. Materials used for the installation of false ceilings: polystyrene foam boards (durable, strong, nonflammable, have an original design), chipboard panels (their minus contain harmful substances), plasterboard panels (have sound and heat insulating properties, perfectly flat) . The latter require additional painting or cladding. Such plates are glued to the ceiling with glue - PVA or UPK. Plasterboard materials are used if the room has a height of more than two and a half meters.
It is worth talking separately about the stretch ceiling. Its advantage is good.
waterproofing and ease of installation. This is essentially a vinyl film fixed to an aluminum or plastic profile. The latter are fixed with screws and dowels.
Repair of a stretch ceiling depends on the type of damage. A small puncture of the vinyl film is corrected by glue treatment. If a cut occurred at a distance of 8 to 12 cm from the wall, then the stretch ceiling must be unfastened, on the side of the cut cut the fabric and weld the harpoon again, and then reinstall the structure.
When repairing the ceiling in the bathroom, remember that you need to use only moisture-resistant materials.
