Mountain water, which is also often called "living", is rich in mineral salts necessary to maintain a healthy human body. The article discusses its properties, composition, effect on human health and especially eating.
What is a "living" fluid?
Mountain spring water is a fluid that flows from the tops of mountains and rocky terrain. Its origin is associated with melting glaciers or precipitation in the form of rain and snow at high altitude.
Knowing the origin of mountain water, we can assume that in the process of its movement to the foot of the rocks it is saturated with minerals from which the corresponding terrain is formed. In addition, this liquid is considered to be pure and “living”, since from the moment of its occurrence to the moment of eating, human activity had no effect on its structure and chemical composition.
Difference of water in a water tap from water from natural sources
Since the considered “living” liquid is mainly formed as a result of melting glaciers and its subsequent movement to the foot of the mountains, three important features should be noted that distinguish it from drinking tap water:
- Water of mountain origin is distinguished by a specific (perfect) structure. At present, it is no secret to anyone that this chemical compound has its own structure, which can have both negative and positive effects on human health. The water that comes from the tap is unstructured, so its use is much lower than the corresponding liquid from natural sources.
- Water from springs in the mountains is saturated with minerals, and salts are dissolved in it, which are necessary for the normal functioning of the body. Mineral salts are also contained in the tap fluid, but, unlike mountain water, their composition is unbalanced.
- Finally, an important feature of liquid from natural sources is the absence of any chemical treatment that water passes from a water tap to disinfect and clean it from impurities.
Is the mountain and artesian mineral water the same thing?
No, because their origin is different. The artesian mineral water is mined from wells with a minimum depth of 100 meters. At great depths, it is stored in water veins, saturated with the corresponding minerals of the rocks that surround it. Since the veins are deep underground, the mineral water does not contain harmful bacteria and viruses, so it can be eaten without any pre-treatment.
Mountain water has a surface altitudinal origin (mainly as a result of melting glaciers), so its mineral composition is completely different than that of an artesian liquid. Moreover, the mineral water from sources in rocky terrain is not always devoid of parasites, bacteria and viruses.
The composition of water from natural mountain sources
According to the international classification, water is weakly mineralized when its salt content is less than 50 mg per 1 liter. If this content is higher than 1500 mg per 1 liter, then they talk about strong mineralization.
The "living" fluid is highly mineralized. Its composition contains such trace elements as iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, fluorine, sodium, as well as carbonate and bicarbonate groups. The exact composition of mountain water depends on the place where it is extracted, so the liquid from the mountains of the Caucasus and Altai will have completely different quantitative and even qualitative composition and, as a result, different properties for the body. In our country, the mineral water is famous for its useful properties, which is sold under the AquaGor brand, mined at the foot of Elbrus.
The benefits of blue fluid scientifically
Mountain drinking water is useful primarily due to the balanced composition of the mineral salts dissolved in it. The following are its main positive properties:
- Carbonic acid anions contained in the liquid neutralize excess acidity in the stomach, which helps improve digestion.
- Some studies have shown that regular consumption of this “mineral water” in food reduces the risk of developing diseases of the cardiovascular system by 6-15%, which is associated with a high content of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate dissolved in water.
- Since mountain water contains a large amount of calcium cations Ca 2+ , it has a strengthening effect on human bones and on the musculoskeletal system as a whole.
- The fluid from the rocky terrain is useful for people who follow their diet in order to control body weight, because it does not have calories, but the body gets the minerals it needs when it is eaten.
- Mineral is a wonderful source of magnesium for our body. Magnesium plays an important role in the process of muscle work, participates in the regulation of blood glucose levels, and also makes a significant contribution to maintaining the immune system in a healthy state.
- Finally, the mineral composition of mountain water helps maintain beautiful and healthy skin in humans. The results of some studies indicate that the “living” fluid, both when used internally and when irrigated the skin from the outside, smoothes wrinkles and gives the epidermis a younger look.
Can a mineral water from sources in rocks be harmful?
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is positive. Here you need to understand the following: if a person purchases mountain water in a specialized store and with a registered trademark, then it is safe, since it has already been tested for the content of possible harmful microorganisms in it. There is also a safe “mineral water”, which is in full swing in various mountainous areas, and next to which there is a corresponding plate with information about the indicated source, since it has also been tested for suitability for food.
On the other hand, if a group of tourists discovered a source in the mountains and the liquid of this source seems to be crystal clear, drinking it is still not recommended without special treatment. The fact is that the liquid in the found "wild" source can be saturated with various harmful salts, for example sulfur compounds. Moreover, some industrial or agricultural enterprise may be located upstream, the activity of which may pollute and infect the mineral water.
Methods for cleaning and disinfecting water
If a situation arises in which it is necessary to eat liquid from an unknown source, then it is recommended that the following measures be taken to purify cold mountain water and disinfect it from possible harmful microorganisms:
- filtration through a thick layer of gauze;
- boiling;
- you can also drop 2-10 drops of iodine or alkali per 1 liter into the water and wait at least 30 minutes until the substance disinfects the mineral water;
- You can purchase appropriate tablets for water disinfection that contain chlorine oxides from the store and use these tablets.
The complex use of these methods allows you to remove large particles from the "living" fluid, as well as to destroy parasites, pathogenic bacteria and viruses.
Mountain water reviews
Most reviews of people who regularly drink mineral water of various brands from natural sources are positive. So, people praise the water "Mountain Peak", which is produced in the Caucasus, for its softness and the absence of any aftertaste.
According to some reviews, it is recommended to drink liquid from sources in the rocks cold, because if it is heated above 37 o C, it will lose its positive properties. Such a mineral water, of course, will not bring harm, but it will not be of any more use than ordinary water from a water tap.
