More recently, a new sports car Nissan Juke-R was tested on the Moscow Raceway. Technical data, features of the exterior and interior, as well as their development, took the developers of the British company RML and the European Technical Center of Nissan more than 22 weeks. Two cars were presented on the track at once: a donor sports car GT-R and Nissan Juke-R itself, worth 600 thousand dollars.

The concern is already taking orders for the production version of the car, including from Russian motorists. Acquisition of the model will be carried out only through the engineering company RML.

Test Drive

Landing in the Nissan Juke-R is not very convenient: the low ceiling and the channel frame of the safety cage interfere. The bucket of the sports seat is quite narrow, but you don’t have to worry about your own safety: four-point belts tightly encircle the body.

The chair moves only in the longitudinal direction, so you cannot set its back in the vertical. The steering wheel is adjusted both in height and in reach, but the range is insufficient. The difference in elevation at the brake and gas pedals is not to every driver's liking: it greatly complicates driving and makes it uncomfortable.

The sound of a 3.8-liter six-cylinder V-engine, the noise of the exhaust system and the hiss of two turbochargers help to plunge into the racing atmosphere, but while driving it seems that the Nissan Juke-R is too noisy. The manufacturer assures that the model is a sports car approved for public use.

The compact crossover accurately and quickly responds to the slightest deviation of the steering wheel, the drive is as informative as possible. The trajectory is measured literally in millimeters thanks to the steering wheel equipped with an amplifier. A dense suspension transmits all the information to the wheels in full, during turns the car does not roll, the brake system is effective, it starts working immediately after pressing the brake pedal. The curb weight of the Nissan Juke-R is 1806 kilograms, but at the same time, the crossover, equipped with a 486 horsepower V6 biturbo engine and 3.8 liters, has tremendous dynamics and diabolical acceleration.

If we compare the Juke-R with its donor, the GT-R, then Nissan is much easier to enter the turn: a shortened base equipped the sports car with the necessary maneuverability. Active braking, coupled with a synchronous slight steering turn, easily sets the five-door crossover sideways. Nissan is much easier to skid under gas than its donor, which is achieved through the use of an all-wheel drive transmission that transmits more torque to the stern.

At a speed of 200 km / h Nissan Juke-R 2.0 maintains incredible dynamics. However, the high speed of movement negatively affects the already poor aerodynamic characteristics: the wind begins to howl at the front pillars and in the mirrors.

Exterior

The front and rear tracks of the Nissan Juke-R were increased to 1586 and 1598 mm, respectively. In the wheel arches, expanded due to the overlays, 20-inch RAYS wheels are installed. The length of the body and wheelbase remained unchanged - 4130 and 2500 millimeters, respectively, but the width was 1910 millimeters, and the clearance was 115 millimeters.

Interior

The interior is practically no different from the standard version of the Juke, despite the fact that the build quality is very different from the Japanese: in some places, plugs and puffing plastic are visible. The second row of seats is missing, since its place is occupied by an all-wheel drive transmission. The motor shield was slightly shifted so that the V6 engine could be placed under the hood. In view of this, the dashboard became closer to the driver, and climate control and other systems were moved to the luggage compartment. The air intake is located at the rear pillar. The front seats also moved back due to the overall engine, and all-wheel drive and a robotic transmission with two clutches took the place of the second row of seats.

The main devices of the Nissan Juke-R are hidden under a curved visor. In the center of the dashboard there is a seven-inch information display, which displays information about the operation of the main systems. Almost the entire system is borrowed from the Nissan GT-R, which is not surprising.

Japanese company Nissan to create a Juke-R contacted engineering studio Ray Mallock Ltd., specializing in the construction of race cars for the BTCC and WTCC series and cars for rally championships. Actually, almost nothing remained of the Juke crossover in the new version, except for the sidewall, roof and windshield. The body was created on the basis of a steel tubular safety cage. The front suspension is double wishbone, the rear is multi-link. Shock absorbers, suspension geometry, springs and brakes were borrowed from the GT-R.

The technical component of the Nissan Juke-R almost completely got from the 2010 GT-R. Despite this, the five-door crossover has acquired new settings for the engine, transmission, suspension and all-wheel drive system.

Powertrain

The Juke-R concept has a 3.85-liter turbocharged 485 horsepower engine with a torque of 588 N / m. Due to the longitudinal arrangement of the motor, the concern's engineers had to redo the spars and engine compartment. To ensure the necessary level of body rigidity, the developers had to create a new safety cage, which means that there is practically nothing left of the standard Juke body.

The exhaust system is also borrowed from the GT-R. The dynamics of acceleration to the first hundred is 3.7 seconds, with a maximum speed of 257 km / h. These dynamic characteristics are relevant only for the version with a 485-horsepower engine.

A distinctive feature of the power unit mounted on the Nissan Juke-R is a 0.15 mm thick plasma coating. It is applied to the cylinder walls and replaces the classic traditional liners, the average wall thickness of which is 2.6 millimeters. Plasma coating better dissipates heat, reduces the weight of the engine by three kilograms on average, increasing its efficiency and efficiency.

Among the technical innovations, the engine oil cooling system with thermostat control is noted. The oil flow in the turbocharger during intensive lateral overloads is supported by a booster pump. The concept crossover engine is manually assembled in a special room at Nissan's Yokohama plant.

Price

Despite the futuristic photos of the Nissan Juke-R, many motorists are wondering about the advisability of acquiring a concept car, especially considering the relatively recent GT-R received an update that greatly improved it. The charged version of the crossover weighs more than its donor, it is not so practical, and it is released in a limited series of 25 copies. Given that the concept car is the embodiment of a crazy idea that combines innovative technology and unique design, the price of 600 thousand dollars is quite high, but at the same time quite reasonable.
