The comfort of living in a country house or in an ordinary city apartment depends on the warmth of the room. Floor temperature plays a major role. Floor insulation can be done independently. It is only necessary to choose the optimal material and technology of insulation. You need to look at the functional properties:
- Strength and thermal conductivity.
- Ecological safety and fire safety.
- Relatively light weight.
- Moisture resistance and durability.
- Speed โโof work.
Today, a wide range of domestic and foreign heaters is presented on the construction market. Let's consider several options.
Floor insulation: mineral wool and polystyrene
Warming of a wooden floor is usually done with mineral wool or polystyrene. These materials are well tolerated by mechanical stress, have thermal insulation. Warming of a wooden floor begins with laying a waterproofing film. Then the optimum thickness of the insulation is selected depending on the thickness of the lag. Insulation of the floor with foam occurs with small gaps, which are then foamed with polyurethane foam. Mineral wool is laid in a uniform layer. On top of the cotton wool you need to lay a waterproofing film. It will protect you from fiberglass dust.
Ground floor insulation with double flooring
This method is considered traditional. Insulation of the floor is due to two layers. The first is mounted from boards, which are mounted on the beams with tongues. There should be no airspace. The second layer is a laminate, linoleum with insulation or even carpet. The advantage of this method is that such coatings are easy to maintain and have a high level of thermal insulation.
Fiberboard floor insulation
If the floor surface cannot be raised to a decent height, then fiberboard, which is a good heat insulator, is suitable as a heater. Almost any topcoat can be safely laid on top of such a foundation. Exceptions are ceramic tiles and thin linoleum.
Expanded floor insulation with expanded clay
Expanded clay insulation technology is one of the most affordable, but it should be carried out at the construction stage or during major repairs, since the expanded clay base thickens the subfloor .
Expanded clay is used as a backfill and additive in concrete screed. A mesh is laid between expanded clay and screed, and microfiber is added to the concrete solution. This provides strength: the surface will not crack.
Warm floor
New - underfloor heating. This is a system that includes heating, connecting cables, a temperature controller.
The floor is insulated with a heating cable, which is laid in the concrete floor, connected to the network. When plugged in, the floor heats up and begins to radiate heat.
Installation begins with covering the base of the floor with a layer of thermal insulation material, on which aluminum foil is placed to reflect heat rays. The cable is neatly laid, the floor is poured with a small layer of concrete. Linoleum, parquet, tile, carpet and other materials can be laid on top.
