Opening a school-based school
The history of the Totem State Polytechnic College began in 1954. On the basis of one of the city schools opened a school of agricultural mechanization and began to train tractor drivers. The students received not only theoretical knowledge: practical skills were developed in the plumbing laboratory and on the training sites on two tractors - old vehicles at the disposal of the educational institution.
After 9 years of work, the first important change occurred. The educational institution was named the rural vocational school. It began to train broad-based tractor drivers. In the future, they began to train drivers of category “C” cars, laboratory assistants in chemical and bacteriological analysis, electricians, plasterers, painters, tailors, and pastry chefs. In the 90s, the educational institution received the status of a lyceum, and in 2009 it was transformed into the Totem Polytechnic College.
The results of many years of development
Today, the Totem State Polytechnic College is a solid and modern educational institution in the education system of the Vologda Oblast. Its material and technical base is sufficient to conduct quality activities. There are 4 educational buildings at the disposal of the secondary school. The entire educational process is carried out in 25 classrooms, 17 laboratories, 4 workshops.
Compared to the beginning of the activity, the number of equipment has increased significantly. Today the college owns 12 cars, 14 tractors, 23 agricultural machines. There is a simulator for developing skills and improving vehicle driving techniques.

How to get to the Totem Polytechnic College? Ssuz is located at: Vologda region, Totma city, Belousovskaya street, 15. This is a small town, so there is no public transport here. Students living in Totma get to college on foot. If desired, residents of other settlements can study at an educational institution, live in this city (the secondary school provides a comfortable hostel), and go home on weekends. Buses run regularly to Vologda, Veliky Ustyug, the village named after Babushkin, etc.
