In the musical horizon, stars light up and go into oblivion at the speed of light. Styles, images, favorite by the public, and with them, performers are changing. But there are those that are remembered, if not by their songs, then at least by their individuality, special style and unusual sound. These include the Russian rock band "Pilgrim" - a team with an unusual fate and extraordinary creativity.
About the group. History of creation
It is difficult to give the exact date of birth of the group. Her permanent soloist Andrei Kovalev was the creator of the university musical group back in 1975. The student group "Pilgrim" did not last long and was forgotten until 1987. Andrey Kovalev creates a new team with the name and style of the previous one. The first album, Confession of the Egoist, is released.
In 1989, the group went on a tour to Italy. The country captivates the guys, and they ask for political asylum. The Italian authorities do not refuse, but at home, in the USSR, the Pilgrims become outcasts. First, an international scandal awaits them, and then oblivion. The Pilgrim group becomes banned. But when the rocker star almost went down, fate (or the frontman) decides that the Pilgrim should return to the horizon of Russian rock.
After 16 years, Andrei Kovalev once again re-creates the group, leaving the name and concept. In the city of Pushkin, the first mini-concert takes place on a bike show. It is worth saying that the biker theme is becoming one of the main paired with the patriotic. But more about that below.

The soloist and creator of the group "Pilgrim" Andrei Kovalev is an extraordinary person. Several hypostases in it are intertwined and at the same time confront each other: a musician, businessman, rocker, deputy and biker - this is all about Andrei. Unfortunately, when many personality characteristics are mixed up, a person may not be understood by their social groups. A similar thing happens throughout life with Kovalev. In the role of a deputy, his rocker habits are criticized by his colleagues; among rockers, the “singing deputy” is puzzling and misunderstanding. Andrey Kovalev (Pilgrim group) is not one of those who pay attention to barbs. The team and its work are developing, vivid videos are made with celebrities, new songs and releases are written. And although critics excitedly deny the group's membership in rock, Pilgrim has its own constant, fairly mature and distinctive audience. Against the background of fading rock stars and the exciting main positions of rappers and pop musicians, this is very good. The collective has room to develop, which means that their songs will be played for a long time.
Pilgrim songs
The repertoire of the group can hardly be called diverse. The themes of “Pilgrims” are patriotic, biker songs, largely inheriting “Arias” singles such as “The Roar of Motors” and folk songs in an arrangement (“Orphan”). Musical accompaniment - hard rock, hard guitar riffs, virtuoso drum beats carry into the world of demons, warriors, angels and bikers (“Not a demon, not an angel”, “Half-beast”). Slavic mythology paired with demonology are woven into patriotic themes. And hard metal unexpectedly gently frames Kovalev’s peculiar love lyrics (“Kara”, “Damned Love”). In the repertoire of rockers, everyone can find something of their own that matches the mood.
Pilgrim and Pamela Anderson
Andrey Kovalev does everything possible for popularity. The Pilgrim group releases albums jointly created with popular rappers (the guys work with Ptah and Legalize on the Marta release), celebrities are invited to the videos. The Finnish “Apocalyptic” takes part in the filming of the video for the song “Judas”; in the promotional video Command Performance, the team is shot together with Dolph Lundgren. The group has something to be proud of.
In September 2014, Pamela Anderson arrives to shoot the video “Roar of Motors”. She plays the bride running away from the wedding. The clip caused a wide variety of responses. Biker clubs did not support the release, criticizing the image of Kovalev. Yes, and about Pamela there was a wide variety of rumors, among which there were speculations that the actress did not participate in the shooting, but only provided materials for editing the clip. These rumors were fueled by the manner of filming, where the starry Pam and Kovalev were not really shown in the general frames, but there were a lot of photos walking on the net, where the starry beauty and the Pilgrim group together.
