BMW Vision: the future through the eyes of the German automaker

In mid-2016, the German company BMW introduced several concepts of the Vision series, which includes models of motorcycles and cars. The most striking and memorable was the BMW Vision Next 100.

Body and platform

The front-wheel drive sedan has an original and effective body design. A car was developed on the basis of an innovative platform using carbon fiber and composite elements. Most of the materials in the design of the BMW Vision Next - over 75% - are made from recycled fabrics and plastic.

The wheel arches integrated into the body and the wheels closed by the side panels made it possible to create a body without protruding parts and angles. The drag coefficient is minimal and is 0.18, which is much less than the fastest car in the world Bugatti Chiron - 0.34, which was achieved thanks to the smooth shape of the body.

The unique innovative Alive Geometry technology, on the basis of which some interior elements and body panels were created, allows the BMW Vision Next to easily take turns. The peculiarity of this technology lies in the fact that the body panels are made of triangles of a flexible structure, and not a monolithic part. If necessary, such triangles can contract and stretch.

Another feature of the concept is the lack of a central pillar and a cabin made of a single piece of carbon fiber. Doors open like a "gull wing" and in the fully open state form a huge free space, which greatly facilitates landing.

BMW i Vision Dynamics

Long announced and one of BMW's most anticipated electric concept cars is the i Vision Dynamics. The concern has already presented its brainchild to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show, while BMW representatives have already promised that in eight years the concern will release 25 electric models and 12 only on batteries.

BMW i Vision Dynamics is striking in its technical characteristics: the dynamics of acceleration to 100 km / h takes four seconds, the maximum speed is more than 200 km / h, and the battery lasts for at least 600 kilometers.

Experts noted the bizarre line of LED optics, original solutions in glazing and the design of the front decorative grille. In previous models, it was used as an air intake; in i Vision Dynamics, it acts as a protection for the electronic control unit of an electric vehicle equipped with various sensors.

The conveyor production of i Vision will begin no earlier than 2021.

BMW Motorrad Vision

At an exhibition in Los Angeles, BMW introduced Motorrad Vision for the first time. The unique design of the concept coupled with the lack of the need for protective equipment and a helmet allow the driver to enjoy the dynamics and speed of driving.

The signature elements inherent in all BMW motorcycles are also preserved in Motorrad Vision: a black triangular frame, a reference to the very first R32 motorcycle, classic boxer engine lines and a snow-white trim. Despite the preservation of traditions, the motorcycle is positioned as an environmentally friendly transport without harmful and toxic emissions.

Concept bike design

The BMW Vision Motorrad combines front and rear wheels with a single Flexframe. Due to its flexibility and mobility, the motorcycle design is made without bearings and connecting elements used in modern motorcycles for turning. The geometry of the structure is changed by turning the steering wheel, which allows you to direct Motorrad in the right direction. Depending on the current situation, the force applied to control changes: the Flexframe becomes stiffer when moving at high speed, and with slow maneuvering it allows you to apply minimal effort to the control.

The top frame cover, seat and wings of the BMW Vision Motorrad are made of carbon fiber. The design of the taillight is made in the corporate style in the form of two letters C, the strips of brake lights are located under the seat.

Thickened tires with a tread that adapts to the road surface and provides perfect traction on the canvas dampen all the bumps in the track.

Motorcycle features

A distinctive feature of the BMW Vision Motorrad concept bike is the lack of familiar buttons, cables and displays. The ascetic front of the motorcycle is the only control with an original design and an unusual purpose - a red switch located on the edge of the right handlebar. Its purpose is to lock and release the gas handle.

The safety and stability of a motorcycle in certain situations is enhanced by active assistance systems through the automatic balancing function. Assistants are activated both in a static state and while driving, and help the driver to adapt to the transport and quickly get comfortable driving.

The vertical position of the BMW Vision Motorrad is maintained even when stationary due to the balancing system, which also demonstrates its advantages while driving on the highway, making it easier to control the motorcycle and providing ideal driving dynamics and maneuverability regardless of the situation on the road.

The Digital Companion device, which is a smart visor and suit, supplies the driver at a particular time with all the necessary information and provides active support.
