This is a policy aimed at the separation of a certain territorial part of the state. This is done in order to create a new independent state or to obtain the status of broad autonomy. It is worth noting that separatism is what leads to a violation of the territorial integrity and unity of the state. Experience shows that often it is a source of acute interethnic or interstate conflicts. But one cannot ignore the fact that separatism is often provoked by the violation of the rights of peoples and people, as well as the infringement of religious, racial and national minorities. And similar actions, but committed by officials, i.e. government officials are punished with a term of three to five years in prison. This punishment is confirmed by the 110th article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In Russia, for the propaganda of separatism, punishment involves a prison term of three to twenty years, it all depends on the gravity of the deed.
