Robert Trujillo, an American musician of Mexican descent, was born on October 23, 1964 in Santa Monica, California. His childhood passed in his hometown, the boy played football with peers, made new friends, was preparing to go to school. When Robert was ten years old, his parents gave him a guitar. From that day on, young Trujillo stopped going outside, sat for hours and fingered the strings. Robert attended school classes regularly, but after school he ran home and, having a quick snack, picked up his favorite six-string. Little by little, he learned to play, and the guitar became for him a faithful companion of life for all subsequent years.
Carier start
In 1989, Robert Trujillo joined the Suicidal Tendencies group, which means "suicidal." Musicians played classic punk rock. Robert Trujillo participated in the creative process until 1997, then moved to the group Infectious Grooves, whose name translates as "grave infection." In 2002, the guitarist worked for some time at the Black Label Sosiety (hard rock), and then was invited by Ozzy Osbourne for joint performances. Since 2003 he is the permanent bass player of Metallica.
Image
About how the musician was hired, the documentary Some Kind of Monster was shot. After Robert Trujillo (his photos are posted on the page) became a member of the Metallica group, he tried to develop his own image and behavior on the stage. In order to stand out somehow, the bass player chose a shocking style for himself, constantly grimaced, built terrible faces, moved in a special way around the stage - sideways and convulsively. In general, he managed to create his own methods of shocking the public, although Ozzy Osbourne, who bites bats on the stage, was still far away.
Album Release
Sales of discs with the recordings of guitarist Trujillo were quite successful, the first album with his participation, which was recorded by Suicidal Tendencies, was sold in a million copies and received gold status. Until 1994, the musicians released five albums, which were considered successful. In 1992, "potential suicides" changed their style, heavy metal began to dominate in the work. Not everything worked out, and Robert Trujillo left the group with vocalist Mike Muir.
The first full-length album featuring bassist Trujillo was Death Magnetic, released in 2008 as part of Metallica. Robert actively participated in writing new songs, thanks to his efforts, the group returned to its previous classical sound, lost earlier. The album Death Magnetic immediately took the first lines of the charts in the USA and England, having settled there for a long time, and was later recognized as platinum. The sound of the bass guitar, as well as the work of the bassist himself, were highlighted. Robert's style corresponded to the old Metallica, evoking nostalgic feelings among fans of the group.
Virtuosity
The playing technique of Robert Trujillo created its colorful sound and fell to the taste of a wide audience. Gradually, the bass player began to sing along to the soloists, and then joined the backing vocals of Metallica. Trujillo's deep timbre was in good harmony with his speedy and rhythmic sound production technique. Now the musicians got the opportunity to re-sing all the old songs in a new way.
Cooperation
Robert Trujillo, the bass player of Metallica, soon became widely known, they began to invite him to session recordings. He worked with Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest, and Zack Wilde of Black Label Sosiety. Twice took part in the recordings of Ozzy Osbourne's albums, performed several times in his concerts.
Participating in numerous tours, recording discs, rehearsing for several hours a day, Robert Trujillo gained invaluable experience. Being a member of Metallica since 2003, he has continuously toured, and in his spare time from touring he worked on creating new albums.
Robert Trujillo: family
The musician married late, at the moment when he met his chosen one, he was thirty-nine years old. However, the guitarist himself believes that his family is Metallica, he is all in music, constantly goes on tour, and creates new songs with other musicians. Nevertheless, Robert Trujillo and his wife Chloe live together. She is an artist and art scientist. Their acquaintance began with the fact that Chloe painted Robert's guitar, applied the Aztec calendar to the tool body by burning. The young woman supports her husband in everything, goes on tour with him and is actively involved in creating stage images.
The musician Robert Trujillo, whose personal life was completely successful, has two charming kids - son Ty and daughter Lu, who love to watch his fatherβs performances on television. Each of them dreams someday to touch the bass guitar, which is always in the case, and getting to it is not easy.
