Drywall ceilings: photo options

What could be more interesting than designing your own apartment ?! Illuminated drywall ceilings are a great opportunity to prove yourself as a creative person and to realize a lot of creative ideas in the interior. The main thing is not to get confused in them and not to create a “mess” of different styles. Therefore, it is important, before starting repairs, to put everything on the shelves first, and only then begin to act. Otherwise, confusion may occur, which will eventually ruin the entire project.

Types of drywall constructions

GKL ceilings have recently begun to gain great popularity due to a number of advantages:

  • Using drywall, you can create a perfectly flat surface.
  • Many options for the design of rooms using GCR.
  • If there are too many wires in the room, they can be hidden in the ceiling structure.
  • You can count on complete safety, since there are no impurities in the composition of drywall sheets - only natural materials.
  • High sound insulation will help to "fence off" from noisy neighbors.
  • This is an economical repair option.

First of all, it must be remembered that all drywall ceilings are divided by the number of levels into:

  • Sibling.
  • Layered.
  • Curly.

What type of ceiling is most suitable for a particular room will be determined based on data on the area of the room. It also depends on the design decision.

Single Level Plasterboard Ceilings

Their motto is - the simpler the better. This variety is most suitable for small houses or apartments. They do not create unnecessary “heaviness” in the rooms, and in some cases, with the correct distribution of colors and light sources, they allow, on the contrary, to make the space visually much wider.

The only significant problem with drywall is moisture instability. Therefore, it is not recommended to start repairs in these areas with plasterboard ceilings. But any other rooms, for example, a corridor or a bedroom, can easily be designed. The coating will last a long time and make the surface perfectly smooth.

As the decoration of a single-level ceiling, materials such as water-based paint, acrylic, putty, wallpaper are most often used. If desired, a sheet of drywall can even be painted with patterns. If the walls are less than 3 meters high, it is recommended to abandon dark shades, as this will visually narrow the space. The most relevant will be light, muted colors.

Single-level ceilings can be made quite original by adding decorative lighting. There are several ways to do this. You can install the lighting elements simply along the walls, hiding them on the cornice attached to them, or make it in the form of a pattern of LEDs on the surface of the coating. Photos of drywall ceilings are included.

Layered Plasterboard Ceilings

Ceilings consisting of several levels will help to add luxury to the room - there can be two or three. Bright illumination will add color. It’s better here, without hesitation, to turn to the designers for planning, as there can be a ton of finishing options - geometric shapes, zigzags, murals, matte, glossy inserts. The main thing is to create the right combination, which is sometimes beyond the reach of the ordinary master. Therefore, it is better to put the matter into experienced hands.

As a frame for the levels, a variety of chandeliers are perfect. Mirror pieces will look very original on the ceiling . Two-three-level frames adorn the halls of art galleries, theaters and other elite institutions. In a house or apartment, such ceilings are more suitable for a reception, dining room, living room. For the children's playroom, you can use the terrain.

Curly Plasterboard Ceilings

This classification is rather arbitrary. Curly ceilings have become so popular that it is quite possible to highlight a whole section. For a stylized children's room this will be an original solution. For example, a large carved star is placed in the middle of the room - the baby will be delighted. It is difficult to cut and mount various figures from a drywall sheet, therefore it is recommended to involve a specialist in the matter. Adults will also like this idea. The only condition is that the design of the figure is combined with the rest of the interior.

Ceiling Light

The main decoration of the plasterboard ceilings with lighting are lamps. They add effect and complement the design project. Fans of a large number of lighting fixtures will enjoy plasterboard ceilings - GKL sheets are famous for their resistance to ignition. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the occurrence of a fire.

Chandeliers, LED strips and spotlights are most often used as decorations.

Chandeliers

Chandeliers are very relevant for creating chic. One large chandelier is usually located in the very center as the main light source. You can complement the "picture" with patterned shades. There are two types of devices - suspended structures and ceiling. Hanging chandeliers are mounted on a spring or chains and are used only for spacious rooms. The ceiling version practically does not take place and is located under the top.

LED strip

False plasterboard ceilings with lighting of this type look very beautiful and modern. Due to the abundance of LEDs on the market, the color of the tape can be easily matched to the shades of the entire interior. This can be a standard white glow, and purple, and green, and other colors. The main advantage of the LED strip is its minimal power consumption. Also a significant plus include complete eye safety and environmental friendliness. With the help of various light tapes, very atmospheric rooms are created.

Spotlights

These backlit drywall ceilings are ideal for those looking for an economical option. These are small lighting fixtures with an integrated LED. The lamp is easily mounted in the ceiling. Spot lighting is often used in projects where, with the help of GKL, it is necessary to highlight several working areas in one room.

GKL ceiling design for different rooms

First of all, when developing an apartment design project, it is required to take into account the purpose of a room. This will prevent errors in design and will fully realize the plan. For each room, you can come up with your own unique idea.

Drywall ceiling in the kitchen

As already mentioned above, a kitchen is not the best idea for using a plasterboard ceiling. Vapors during cooking will damage the surface of the sheet, as a result of which the surface can be completely deformed. But if there are no other coating options besides drywall, then it is recommended to apply water-repellent enamel to protect against moisture. Also, a pvc film is suitable for this, which must be glued over the entire ceiling. The simplest solution is to use GCR not for the entire space, but only in those places where steam does not get. For example, a dining area.

If a chandelier is preferred as a lighting fixture, you should be careful when buying. Firstly, it must be resistant to high humidity. Secondly, since the chandelier will be placed in the kitchen, in any case, food fumes will settle on it, so it should be very easy to remove, disassemble and clean.

The living room is an ideal option for the embodiment of all design projects. There is room for imagination here, and you no longer need to worry about high humidity. A multi-level ceiling made of drywall with lighting will perfectly complement any style. The design is not only very beautiful, but also very functional. There are many options. You can perform decorative illumination above the sofa and add the “upper” main light and even set additional decorative lighting.

You can design arches, reliefs or stick to something classic.

If with the help of the GKL-design it is required to achieve a visual increase in the room, it is recommended to place the upper part of the ceiling in the center and create a kind of narrow frame from the lower level. This will visually make the walls higher and the space itself wider. However, the voluminous chandelier does not fit here, you will have to do with spot lighting.

As for the chandelier, all ideas can be easily implemented. In the living room, massive ornate plafonds will be appropriate, which will add atmospheric. But if you stick to the classic options in the design, you can choose a neat suspension design. To visually narrow the room, two identical chandeliers must be placed symmetrically on the ceiling. An excellent option for the hall is a plasterboard ceiling with backlight (photo attached) two-level. The main thing is that lamps with warm and soft light should prevail. But some areas can be strengthened.

Today, suspended ceilings with plasterboard lighting are popular (see photo above). They easily fit into absolutely any design.

GKL in the bedroom

When designing a bedroom, calm tones and smooth design must be sustained. In this zone, the eyes should rest, so there is no point in bizarre bright forms. Pastel shades and warm lighting will fit perfectly. Here you can safely use fragments of photo wallpaper with the image of the sky, clouds or stars. Planet lovers can deploy a whole "space" on their ceiling.

Bright neon appliances are best left for the living room or game room. A bulky chandelier above the bed is not recommended. It is also worth abandoning contrasting details and gloomy figures. In good construction stores, there is a separate department with chandeliers for the bedroom. Usually they are small in size, without extra details. Do not neglect bedside lighting for added comfort - floor lamps, sconces, etc.

To make the upper part of the room deeper, you can install LED strips that will give the effect of increasing space. Two-level plasterboard ceilings with backlit look very nice (photo attached). You can install lights around the perimeter, and decorative lighting will be used to highlight a specific area in the room.

GKL in the nursery

The main rule of the children's room is a lot of free space. Therefore, overloading the room with elements is not recommended. Let the room remain spacious and even a bit empty. If the space itself is not very large, then the intricate plasterboard ceiling with backlight should be abandoned. Moreover, the children's psyche can associate ceiling levels as a threat.

There is a place for large details if the children's room is too large. For a small area, a single-level ceiling made of thin sheets of drywall is a good solution. For a good mood, the baby is recommended to use light spring colors in the decoration, and the light is as close to natural as possible. In general, the room should be made in a milky yellow style.

As for the choice of a lighting device, there is one important point here - the chandelier must be completely safe. Therefore, it is foolish to hang a large crystal structure. The best option would be a plastic and textile shade. Depending on the style of design, you can "play" with the form. It can be both classic lamps and original thematic devices - a luminous “ball”, “flower”, etc.

GKL for an entrance hall and a corridor

The rooms, which occupy a smaller part of the entire area, are an entrance hall and a corridor. But despite this, these zones are the first thing the guest pays attention to. A variety of colors or patterns will be superfluous here. Ceilings should be neutral, monophonic. So that the space does not seem gloomy, it is better to place lighting devices around the entire perimeter. Spotlights or neon ribbons are great for this.

If you really want to hang a chandelier, then you can only allow small structures. If the soul still asks for some kind of originality in design, then you can develop an arched vault or a two-level design, but only on condition that the size of the room allows this to be done without damage.
