"Daewoo Nexia" is a fairly simple and cheap car to maintain. Reliable Korean engines with different block heads were installed on these machines. There were eight and sixteen valve versions. He will be in the cabin, and apply the brake, after first engaging in fourth gear. So you lock the crankshaft. And the bolt itself must be unscrewed with a massive screwdriver with an extension cord. You can use the socket head.
The belt should only be removed after the first piston (the one closest to the air filter housing) is set to TDC. The cutout on the shaft pulley should be directed towards the mark on the steel casing. The arrow itself can look a little to the side, and not into the hole itself. It is important to combine these labels, otherwise the motor may triple or the car will consume more fuel.
How is the timing belt replaced on the 16-valve Nexia next? Unscrew the screws with a key (10 mm) and remove the lower part of the belt cover. It is worth knowing that the marks on the camshafts should look strictly at each other. Unscrew two more bolts with a key (12 mm). They fasten the GUR pump retainer. Next, remove the tension roller. It is fixed with three bolts. They are unscrewed with a 14 mm wrench. Next, remove the timing belt itself . It is removed simply, with the exception of the area near the pump.
Installing a new belt and tension
How do you do the timing replacement on the 16-valve Nexia with your own hands? The installation process of the belt is carried out in the reverse order. But before starting work, it is important to check the condition of the water pump. It is worth inspecting the mounting points of the pump and twist the bearings. If they rotate with characteristic noise, the water pump must also be replaced. It is also unacceptable to leak antifreeze from under the pump.
Before installing, it is important to check the angles of the camshafts and crankshaft. All tags must match. Only after making sure that the labels are set correctly, you can continue to replace the Nexia timing belt with a 16-valve engine. In this case, the tension is regulated by turning the pump. To do this, you need a special key. But in the absence of one, one can do otherwise. To do this, use a wrench (17 mm) to loosen the camshaft screw (exhaust only), but not completely. Next, install the belt in accordance with all the marks, and use a screwdriver to pull up the tongue of the tension roller. Put the camshaft pulley in place.
To make sure that the marks are installed correctly, rotate the crankshaft two turns. The tongue of the roller should be opposite the protrusion, that is, on the site. Otherwise, you will have to turn the pump with a special key. Then tighten the crankshaft pulley with a force of 95 Nm, and then tighten another 45 degrees. In this case, the crankshaft can be locked by engaging first gear and pressing the brake pedal.
