The technological process does not stand still, and even more so in recent years. It is not enough for equipment manufacturers to simply release new models; they need to surprise and interest the buyer.
No less important indicator than the functionality or manufacturability of a car is its design, as this is the first thing a potential buyer is looking at. An increasing number of people want to have not just a practical and comfortable vehicle - they want to own a car that would stand out from the car stream with its bright and original design. That car was the Honda Civic Type-R.
Background
The Japanese concern Honda made an attempt to realize the wishes of the consumer by introducing in the spring of 2005 the concept of the 8th generation of the popular Honda Civic. You might think that this is not strange, since several companies constantly present futuristic concepts to the surprised public at automobile exhibitions.
But Honda decided not to stop there. The eighth-generation Civic concept has virtually unchanged turned into a production model. A very bold step, since not every car manufacturer can decide to launch a model with such a bold design. It turned out that all the fears were in vain: immediately after the car hit the domestic market, huge lines lined up for it.
The standard five-door hatchback is equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, but we will talk about its modification - a charged coupe Honda Civic Type-R. The photo of the car is a confirmation of the bold move of the Japanese manufacturer, since the exterior of the new item is โslightlyโ unusual for the consumer, which nevertheless made the model very popular.
Exterior
The hot version is only available in a three-door body. The car is 15 mm wider than its five-door cousin with the same wheelbase. In addition to this, the novelty received body-colored bumpers, an updated aerodynamic body kit, two trunk spoilers and 18-inch wheels. All this with the futuristic style of the model itself makes the appearance of the Honda Civic Type-R incredibly attractive. The appearance of the novelty is much more expressive of its predecessors - arrogant, sporty, even aggressive.
Interior
On the driver's seat, the enthusiasm is the same. The seat looks like a real racing bucket. In the backs of the seats are ready holes for sports seat belts. Soft interior upholstery reminds you that you are inside a โcivilianโ car designed for public roads. In all other respects, the interior is similar to the interior of the Civic predecessor, and it is possible to determine that this is the Honda Civic Type-R only in some details, primarily in color. Armchairs have red accents, and red color dominates the cabin. It was also used for backlighting.

The main element on the two-level instrument panel is a volumetric tachometer, marked up to 9,000 rpm (the red zone starts at 8,000 rpm). Above the tachometer are fuel sensors, engine temperatures, and a digital speedometer. The inscription Type-R is present both on the instrument panel and on the metal nameplate next to the manual transmission. On the center console is the control unit for the audio system and the on-board computer. Climate control is carried out using buttons similar to a joystick with buttons located to the right under the visor of the Honda Civic Type-R instrument panel. On the left are buttons for controlling the light and starting the engine. You need to insert and turn the key in the ignition switch, but the starter is launched precisely with the button.
The seats, like the steering wheel, have many adjustments. "Bagel", sheathed in genuine leather, pressed inward. But the lever of the 6-speed "mechanics" is made of cold metal. Despite the sportiness of the cabin, it is very practical: you can find many niches for small things, and the second row is spacious and comfortable. The only negative is that it is a little difficult to climb back, but this is a problem for all three-door hatchbacks.
Luggage compartment
The boot volume of the Honda Civic Type-R is 485 liters in the normal state, and when the second row is folded, it increases to 1352 liters. It should be noted that the shape of the luggage compartment lid limits visibility in the rearview mirror.

Most competing firms focus on turbocharged engines, and Honda continues to improve atmospheric gasoline engines. This slightly limits the possibilities of tuning in the future, and significantly affects the power of the model. Despite this, the 4-liter petrol unit with a volume of 2.0 liters can rightfully be called a masterpiece of mechanical engineering, since an engine with such a modest volume can give out 201 โhorsesโ. Honda engineers tried to make it as responsive as possible, which they succeeded in five plus.
Cost
High cost is the problem of the Honda Civic Type-R. The price of a car from authorized dealers starts at $ 37,800. For example, the Focus ST model, which is one of the main competitors of the Japanese hatchback, costs 8 thousand cheaper. This also applies to other competitors. But if you install on these cars the same functions that are available on the Honda Civic Type-R, then they will become more expensive than the latter.
