Pulpitis is a dental disease in which the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed. And if you do not take any measures and do not go to the dentist, pulpitis will lead to the fact that you have to remove the nerve.
Pulpitis of the tooth: treatment
At various stages of the development of this disease, treatment will be different.
Pulpitis of the tooth? Treatment of it in the first stage usually preserves tooth tissue. In such a situation, a special ointment is applied to the carefully cleaned pulp, and then a temporary seal is placed. After about 7 days, if there are no complications or poor health, a temporary seal is removed. Instead, establish a constant.
If the development of the inflammatory process continues and goes into the advanced stage of tooth pulpitis, treatment is the removal of the tooth nerve (of course, after preliminary anesthesia). When the pulp is removed, the canals are cleaned and filled.
More recently, only tooth extraction together with a nerve and roots was considered as a treatment for pulpitis. This was due to the fact that there was no necessary equipment, without which it is very difficult to treat pulpitis.
The correct and, most importantly, timely treatment of pulpitis in children is especially a guarantee that the teeth will serve the person for a long time.
How to treat pulpitis
Conservative treatment of pulpitis involves preserving the entire nerve completely. They come to this method when the nerve is injured, inflamed, or the tooth cavity has accidentally opened. Such treatment can be called effective only when it is used on people younger than 30 years old and not suffering from chronic diseases, or when treatment of pulpitis of milk teeth is required. In addition, you can apply conservative treatment at the very beginning of the disease.
In the treatment of pulpitis, pain medications are used. Dead cells must be completely removed, and the carious cavity thoroughly cleaned. The main and most important stage of pulpitis treatment is laying a special ointment with healing properties on the bottom of the already cleansed cavity. Such an ointment removes inflammation and promotes tissue regeneration.
At the first visit, the doctor will lay out the cavity with filling material. On the next visit, he will remove it and put a permanent seal.
Did not pass the pulpitis of the tooth? The treatment that suits you is surgical. It represents the removal of a nerve, a complete cleaning of the root canals and their subsequent filling. With this treatment option, the pulp can be removed completely or only the crown part. Its removal usually occurs only in the acute course of the disease. In this case, of course, anesthesia is required.
The cavity of the diseased tooth is opened, then the nerve is cut off below the place where the narrowing of the tooth cavity began. After that, the surface of the pulp is sanitized with specially designed means, an ointment with zinc and calcium hydroxide is applied. On top of the ointment, it is necessary to impose a special gasket and filling material.
There are two flow charts for this method of treating pulpitis:
- devital. With it, the nerve is removed after it is killed;
- vital, when the nerve is removed under local or general anesthesia.
Pulpitis Prevention
The main preventive measures to prevent pulpitis are monitoring the condition of your teeth, timely treatment of caries, and very thorough oral and dental hygiene. At the same time, caries can be treated only using environmentally friendly filling materials.
Regularly visiting the dentist, you can protect yourself from tooth loss or from incredibly severe pain. During a routine examination, the doctor finds out the presence of caries and other pathologies in the early stages of their development.
By starting treatment on time, you will prevent damage to the deep tissues of the tooth.
