The attention of adults, applause was always welcomed by Karina Serbina’s children's heart. She spoke at all matinees in kindergarten, then at school, but after graduating from high school, on the advice of her mother, she began to prepare herself for ... economists.
The girl diligently attended preparatory courses, the prestigious faculty of Moscow State University shone from afar, but Karina secretly from her mother-economist became a student in the vocal department of the famous Gnesinsky school. The choice was right, but my mother reconciled with him only after hearing the broadcast of her daughter’s speech on the radio.
Biography of the future opera diva
Karina Serbina, nee Mkrtchyan, was born in Moscow. The father passed away early, but remained in the memory of his daughters with an unusually bright, smiling man. Mom had to raise two daughters of one. Having become a student at a music school, Karina helped her mother. The girl sang in the choir, in the restaurant and even ran her own small business. It was a school of life, which later came in handy for her.
In 1993 she graduated from the Gnesins Music College (class of V. Alexandrova) and entered the Russian Academy of Music in the class of V. Gromova. In parallel, she took private vocal lessons from G. Kuznetsova, and in 1999 she completed an internship in Greece. Since 1999, Karina Serbina, a soloist at the Bolshoi, has simultaneously collaborated with the Novaya Opera musical theater.
Lucky case
In her student years, the girl did not have her own clavier of the opera Traviatta (in which she played the part of Violetta), so Galina Sergeyevna Kuznetsova's gift - an old, pre-revolutionary clavier of 1890, became a kind of vocalist's handbook. She values it and still uses it.
In an interview, Serbin admits that she believes in a happy event that did not pass her by. Once during an audition (her turn came up), the head of the opera company entered the class, saying that the actress, who sang the part of Violetta, fell ill. Karina's voice fit perfectly into the play. So she began to sing in “Traviatte”.
In 1999, at the Maria Callas International Competition, she won a silver medal, although she thought only to “show up” there. Currently, the opera singer’s repertoire includes the parts of Rakelina from the opera The Beautiful Mill by J. Paisiello, the Snow Maiden from the opera of the same name by Rimsky-Korsakov, Antonida from Ivan Susanin, Glinka, Queen of the Night (Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute), her beloved Violetta from Traviatta by J. Verdi and so on.
In the circle of loved ones
Little is known about Karina Serbina’s personal life.
She likes to celebrate birthdays and the New Year, but not only because she likes an elegantly laid table and a Christmas tree decorated with her own hands. These days, the closest relatives and friends come together, giving each other hours of joy and warmth.
